We lived in the Greater Seattle area and moved to Irvine some months ago. We decided to apply for library cards for my kids. We chose OC Library - Heritage Park Regional Branch as our main location because it is close to our house. Staff is very friendly and loves to help people. My kids love it. The only thing we don’t like is that every time when we want to borrow new books and the borrowing limit is maxed out, we need to ask staff to scan books to return them first. It is very inconvenient, but staff loves to help. We prefer to do it by ourselves. Advice to OCPL: Why not follow the King County Library System (KCLS) in the Greater Seattle Area where they implemented RFID technology long time ago? People can return books in person by themselves in the kiosk directly. It will save a lot of time.

This library is a part of the OC public library. Love the embrace to multiculturalism and multilingual children's and adult's readings available. Love the calendar of events by the entryway. I also saw new books right when you cross the double door. The librarians were featuring books about juneteenth and achievements of women in all race and ethnicity. -1 star: I got bit by some bug while sitting and reading a book trying to decide whether I want to check the book out. Needless to say, i left quickly to get my emergency kit with disinfectant and ointment.

While parking is tight, I am always looking forward to my Irvine library visits. I thought just surfing the web covers the need, but even just the amount of magazines to scan makes trip an adventure. I even learned that the Consumer's Report magazine (in paper] has more detail then the online version. Who would thought.

If you are a resident of California, I highly recommend signing up and experiencing borrowing books. You can borrow not only books but also DVDs, magazines, comics, and even board games. There are various programs available for both children and adults, so I highly recommend checking it out.
