Seoul Haus is in a little plaza off of Trabuco and Yale, typical restaurant with lots of pictures of their dish/food posted on the wall.
Service: not much wait, food was served fast with complimentary hot/cold barley tea
Banchan: fish cake, cold cabbage with soy bean paste, kimchi, and radish kimchi
SOUPS: comforting on a cold day SIR-LANG-TANG: Beef soup with sliced beef; if you feel it’s a bit bland, add more salt to enhance the flavor.
GALBI TANG: Beef short rib soup with some scallions, date, egg slices, and some potato noodles; this is great as comfort food, especially on a cold day. Tastes good and authentic!
COLD NOODLES: refreshing on a hot day MUL NAENG MYEON: can't compare to Mo Ran Gak in Garden Grove, but it's still decent and refreshing at $9.99. The bonus is that Seoul Haus gives A LOT of noodles that I had hard time finishing.
If you're not up for the broth, get BIBIM NAENGMYEON for mixed noodles. You can ask for the sweet chili sauce on the side.
Nice hole in the wall in Irvine. 3.5 stars bumped up to 4 considering you don't have to drive all the way to Garden Grove for authentic...
Read moreGood food. Terrible service. The food and our experience was good until it was time to leave. We had already tipped but as we were about to leave, the Korean lady with the short haircut demanded that we paid extra tip and even cursed at us when we were confused about what she was trying to tell us. She wouldn't let us leave until we tipped her more, even though she wasn't our server. Tipping is for gratitude and is based on the service. You shouldn't demand a larger tip out of someone for no reason. It even says "tipping optional" here on yelp but we still tipped. Everyone else was really nice it was just that one lady with the short blonde hair. We're just teenagers and it seems like she's targeting us just because we're young and don't know any better. She needs to learn how to control her emotions and maybe this'll be her lesson to treat customers with respect because we did...
Read moreThis is a no frills place for Galbi tang and sullongtang (soups) so I immediately compare to Tang 190 and Han Yang.
The banchan are mostly pickled and fermented types so it caters more to Koreans and the older folk instead of the younger lads that like the potato salad, bean sprouts, tofu etc.
We got:
** Galbi Tang - generous portion of beef bones with noodles. They also give you your own pair of scissors to cut up the tender beef. Soup had a nice flavor as well but is t as deep as I'd like.
** Mandu Soup - dumpling soup. I really liked the soup flavor in this one. Tasted like they used a ton of bones to really simmer it. I'm not too big of a fan on dumplings though so I only liked the soup.
When we went there was only one nice lady working there. It's also in a weird small plaza that could be overlooked too. Small mom and pop so go...
