PRO'S: This church loves Jesus and strives to help its members be more authentic and complete in their walks with Christ. The senior pastor and two or three associate pastors take turns preaching. All of the pastors preach practical, engaging, and Biblically sound sermons. Have I ever been blown away by any particular sermon? No. Have I learned something new about Jesus or how I can grow to be more like Him in each sermon? Yes. They don't announce in advance who will be preaching, so to get an informed and balanced opinion of this church, consider attending for at least four consecutive Sundays. This church is also all about serving the needs of its congregants and the surrounding community in practical ways. They have outreaches to single parents, children, people searching for jobs, people struggling with addictions and homelessness, and the surrounding non-church community. They also provide several ministries for families in various forms (mixed families, families dealing with grief/divorce, men, women, kids, and young adults). No matter who you are, or what you're facing in life, there is a group here that will minister specifically to your heart. The majority of people here are approachable and have no pretense; I'm often greeted with a smile and a "Hi" from complete strangers. Although they are welcoming, they don't go overboard by trying to make you feel forced into immediately joining. It has a laid-back atmosphere, so you don't get the impression that anyone is better than anyone else. CON'S: The con's of this church will most likely jump out at you if you grew up in, or prefer, a traditional church setting. The laid-back atmosphere is strengthened by people bringing coffee into the services. In terms of the worship leaders' abilities, the music is of a good quality, and they lead with sincere and humble hearts. However, it's hard for me to get involved with the music only because I don't know 80% of the songs they use (they rely heavily on contemporary/rock worship music). I'm more familiar with hymns and 80's & 90's worship songs, so I spend most of the worship time in prayer or meditation. If you dislike traditional church, or have little to no prior experience with church, these things may not bother you.
The con's are definitely outweighed by the pro's, so this church is worth a visit. It is large without being overwhelming. With a little effort and consistency, you can easily become part of...
Read moreI wanted to take the family to this church, so we are under the impression that it closes at 10pm because I had called and some lady told me that they close at 10pm plus in Google it says that they close at 10pm I get to the church and on their door it says that they close at 10 pm also, so I'm set at 10pm is when they close. I go in with my kids around 830pm we go into the playground and after we need to use the bathroom and the guy working at night gives me an attitude with serious tone and tells me well we are cleaning that's why the bathrooms are closed and then around 840pm a Caucasian lady comes up to me and tells me that they are closing basically she's telling me to go wait outside for my ride with my 4 kids. So we start walking outside and she doesn't even stop me to at least tell me to wait inside with the kids. So I get up from the curb and knock on the door and explain that we were under the impression that they close at 10pm and she gave me nasty attitude and told me to check the website and I told her I didn't know the website. All of the night people there were so serious not even a little smile or sympathy that I had my kids. I didn't want to go back in because they made me feel uncomfortable. I went in there happy and came out upset and with a stomach ache. Horrible people of God, they shouldn't be working there if they are going to make people feel miserable and uncomfortable. They look so miserable and negative they gave all their negativity to me. I will not be going...
Read moreIrving Bible Church is the nicest, cleanest play place I've been to. It is so nice to have a place to bring the children to play in this Texas heat that's air conditioned. It has nice table and chairs you can sit at and have a picnic lunch, or a snack. The hours are great, and it's free. Its always clean and never a lot of noise even though there's quite a few Children there playing. You walk in and it gives you a peaceful feeling. I can't say enough good things about Irving Bible Church. I bring the children I am a nanny for here to play quite often and they have so much fun playing. Not once in all the years that I've been bringing them here has it ever been dirty. They have a very nice lady who keeps the area clean. Once Jake accidentally spilt some popcorn and she happened to be sweeping, I was picking it up and she came over with her broom and swept it up for me I said thank you I'm sorry he made a mess. She said its not a problem and she smiled at Jake. I've been to a similar place that you pay for and it's dirty looking and very noisy. I tell everyone who has Children about Irving Bible Churches play place. Thank you I'm so glad you have this for...
