My husband and I visited Fogo de Chão for a 6:00 PM reservation with our infant and toddler. It was his first time experiencing the restaurant, while I had been to a Virginia location a few years ago and and had a positive memory of it. Our plan was to dine for about an hour or so knowing how challenging it can be with small children but unfortunately, that didn’t happen due to disappointing service.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted, which gave us hope for a great experience. I ordered the surf and turf and was surprised to find that the lobster tail was really good but the portion was quite small, just a single, small piece. I personally didn’t mind since I wasn’t very hungry, but I mention it so others are aware of what to expect. My husband opted for the Full Churrasco experience, but we quickly noticed the meat service was inconsistent and eventually declined.
While things started off okay, the meat selections became repetitive, and we noticed servers repeatedly skipping our table, even when we clearly had our cards on green. What made it more frustrating was that a table right next to us was consistently being served, and as soon as those cuts were delivered, the servers would disappear before ever reaching us. We were left having to flag people down just to get basic service, which really shouldn’t happen at a restaurant like this.
Despite there being several gauchos on the floor, my husband barely received any premium cuts. Toward the end, the few offerings that did come were often steak wrapped in bacon, which we had already declined. Sausage was brought around multiple times as well, almost as if that was the only option. Meanwhile, we observed other tables being offered better service and higher-quality cuts. We aren’t greedy people, I just wanted my husband to enjoy the full experience,
The variety seemed to disappear, and the gauchos began skipping our table entirely, even when making eye contact. It felt intentional and disappointing, especially with nearly six servers working the floor. To make matters worse, our bread was never refreshed, and when we wanted to order dessert, our server was nowhere to be found. With two young children getting antsy and nearly two hours passing, the experience became overwhelming. Watching other guests be prioritized while we were clearly overlooked was both disappointing and exhausting.
I eventually asked to speak with a manager and was instead greeted by Johnathan, a customer service representative. He was the highlight of our experience, he was apologetic, empathetic, and proactive. He relayed our concerns to management who apologized, and in return, they offered a discount and a dessert to go, which we truly appreciated.
As we were paying around 8:15 PM, well over two hours since we arrived and far longer than we intended to stay with two small children, one of the servers finally approached us with a cut of meat, but by then, it was too late.
Before we left, Johnathan kindly let us know that if we choose to return in the future, we’re welcome to ask for him directly. He assured us he would personally make sure we receive better service next time, which we truly appreciated. His professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile helped end the evening on a more positive note.We truly appreciate how Johnathan handled the situation, but we hope that in the future, the restaurant adopts a more equitable system to ensure all guests feel...
Read moreI wanted to share my terrible, terrible first experience at Fogo De Chao. I decided to take my fiancé to the nearest FDC to celebrate his recent promotion - I kept seeing ads for a $49 steakhouse deal so I thought it would be a good, decently-priced place to take him since we love AYCE. Sadly, it was the worse decision ever and we will not be back. After the hostess greeted us and sat us at our table, all hell broke loose.
If there is a promotion or coupon involved, I always make the server aware at the beginning of the meal so there are no surprises on our bill. When our waiter, Ismael or Israel (sadly couldn’t hear his name), greeted himself - I told him about the $49 promotion I kept seeing online and on the website and he stated that he never heard of it then subsequently pushed us to choose the higher priced 85/pp dining option. I was just going to go with it to keep the peace, but decided to ask the host about it - and out of nowhere a ‘customer service manager’ (Michael?) appeared and said he would take care of it.
After we returned to our seat, I swear we did not see our waiter until the bill came (I was afraid that he may have been upset that we asked others about the coupon because we noticed he asked the patrons next to us typical service questions but skipped over us often) and lots of random server assistants and the customer service manager came by and gave us our food/drinks we ordered. I assumed that our current waiter was unassigned from our table at this point.
After a long time later, the waiter came to ask us what desserts we want because it’s “free with the 85/pp dining option” - I was so confused that he did not know that we opted for the $49 deal and even more confused that the customer service manager didn’t inform him of the change. I’m sorry but we were not really able to communicate with our waiter, he kept saying “I’m sorry I’m new” anytime we tried to inform him of the change. We get frustrated and end up ordering two desserts to-go. He also gave us our check which was wrong so he gave it to the Customer Service Manager to correct.
The customer service manager came back with our “corrected” check that now shows our correct dinner price but the desserts that were supposed to be “free” were added onto the check. By that point, it was SO frustrating I didn’t want to say anything anymore. It felt like one big joke since we sat down!!!! We gave the customer service manager our card and he comes back and stated that it was declined but when I paid with the SAME card with the QR code it instantly worked.
The cherry on top….when we got home, we were given 2 chocolate brigadeiro desserts - my fiancé ordered key lime pie and I ordered chocolate brigadeiro.
I spent $255 to be humiliated and stressed out about a dinner that was meant to celebrate my fiancé’s promotion! I am still so upset by everything that happened, I was so annoyed with the service and miscommunication I couldn’t even focus on quality time with my fiancé when we were there. We will NOT be back but I just wanted to...
Read moreGood morning, I’m a returning customer of Fogo de Chão but usually at the Legacy Plano location. Yesterday, February 3, 2025 at 6 pm, we dined in at the Irving location, solely because we had a flight to catch and your location is next to the airport. We are extremely disappointed in the experience we had.
Firstly, upon being greeted, we were told by the manager we could only sit on one side of the restaurant because they are short staffed.
Secondly, upon being seated, the bench seating was bent inwards and we had to use two pillows to prop ourselves forward because without the pillows, we were literally sinking in the seat.
Thirdly, we weren’t asked what kind of experience we wanted, whether it be just the salad bar or the full churasco experience with the meats and salad bar. The salad bar seemed visibly smaller than any other location I’ve ever been at, with minimal options such as only 1 type of soup and not a full option salad bar.
When it came to the meats, our cards were always flipped to green so we can get more options and we didn’t get every single type of meat promised. We kindly requested to bring out all meats except pork. Instead, we only received one type of sirloin on repeat a chicken thigh, and chicken drumstick. Per the menu on your webpage, we should have received Filet mignon, bone in ribeye, seasonal cut, lamb chops, meatballs, beef ribs and we didn’t get any of these. At the other location, we usually receive all of the cuts mentioned above.
When we were asked how we wanted our meats, we said medium however they were all medium well to well done and very dry and chewy and flavorless. This was a whole different disappointment on its own. The chicken was very tender however extremely extremely salty and we brought this up to our server too. We couldn’t eat it, and literally left it as is on our dishes. Even the waiter was confused if we really wanted our dishes taken away with whole pieces of barely touched chicken on it. Again, extremely salty and inedible.
To top it off, I asked the server for dessert as we were celebrating my partner’s birthday. The dessert never came out. After asking another server where our dessert was, he came back out with it, however with no candle or anything. They retook it back inside and added a candle. At this point, it was embarrassing how many times I requested this dessert to be brought out as a celebration dessert not regular dessert.
We didn’t make any issues about anything as we were in a rush to catch a flight this is why I’m writing a review today about my semi mediocre experience with you guys. The experience isn’t cheap and we expect the level of food and service to...
