VRIC is a well-maintained masjid with many commendable aspects, but one major concern remains unaddressed—the deliberate encouragement of free-mixing. It appears that the administration is actively working to minimize or remove the physical barriers between the men’s and women’s prayer areas.
Despite repeated concerns raised by community members, the issue has been dismissed by the resident scholars, who have downplayed the matter. It's disheartening to see that respected figures like Dr. Omar Suleiman and Sh. Yaser Birjas—who are widely known and followed—seem to be overlooking the serious implications of this. While VRIC (main) has already been criticized for this, it is unfortunate to see VRIC (north) following the same path.
The attached media further illustrates this issue. It is my sincere hope that the leadership reflects on this and takes corrective action, as they will be accountable for any fitna that results.
To my fellow Muslim sisters who regularly attend these masajid: kindly consider the weight of the matter. While praying in the masjid is optional for us, avoiding environments of fitna is obligatory. In Sha Allah, we may be rewarded even more for praying at home and distancing ourselves from places that could potentially cause harm to our faith and modesty.
