Well, I'm going to scratch this beach off my list. Don't get me wrong. It has its charm but it also has lots of trash in and around the water. It angers me that such a beautiful place can be littered to the brim and people continue to do so. I tried to walk along the water's edge but almost cut my foot open on a broken beer bottle. My husband nearly amputated his toe on an aluminum can that was sliced in half and hidden in the sand. I was saddened by the lack of pride here. As I started picking up trash that others carelessly tossed about I honestly got crazy looks. I think some even gave me the stink eye. What they didn't realize -- I was actually saving their small children from giant chunks of glass and an afternoon that could've ended in stitches. Whatevs. We didn't stay long. I didn't even take pics. If it were clean I would tell you that the water is clear and calm. Further out, surfers take advantage of a few nice waves. It has a great atmosphere. Just disappointed with the trash that lines the streets and lingers on the beach. Breaks my heart that potential beauty has to suffer through the ignorance of those that disregard the plentiful trashcans. Not the...
Read moreMost consistent place, maybe in all of Puerto Rico but it does not get epic. If it is good, it might be empty because it will undoubtedly be epic everywhere else. If you are not a local, do NOT surf at the rock. That is as heavy a localized lineup as Third Dips in Hawaii. Burger, TJ, Control, Chongy, and the boys OWN this spot, especially the rock. If you show respect, you can get some decent ones but when it is good and all the boys are out, forget it. All the locals are very friendly people who work all day and most speak English very well but just accept that Jobos is their spot and do not, under any circumstances, drop-in or have a hassle with a local. There might be only one or two in the water but believe me, there are dozens on the beach watching and they are fiercely protective of their beach and friends and rightly so. However, if you say hello, show respect, and have good vibes, you can have a great session at Jobitos. Just avoid the rock. Control is the President,...
Read moreMy visit to Playa Los Jobos was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The beach has a laid back, local vibe perfect if you’re looking to avoid heavy tourist crowds and enjoy something more authentic. The water was warm and calm, great for a peaceful swim or just lounging near the shore.
There are shaded spots under palm trees and space to set up chairs or a small picnic. I noticed a mix of locals and visitors, and the overall atmosphere felt safe and friendly. You can smell the sea, hear the waves, and just let time slow down a bit.
There aren’t too many amenities right on the beach, so it’s smart to bring your own food, drinks, and beach gear. That said, some nearby food trucks and kiosks were serving up delicious Puerto Rican bites especially fried snacks and fresh seafood.
It’s not the flashiest beach on the island, but that’s part of the charm. If you’re looking for a calm, no fuss beach day with beautiful views and real island vibes, Playa Los Jobos is...
