There is a really long wooden ramp across part of the beach. It's safe, but some parts are a little squeaky, and you're very high up (trees are in caverns underneath you). You may want to walk along the beach instead of the ramp shortcut. The ramp (and beach) leads to the main attraction - Pozo de Jacinto (Jacinto's Well). It's a rocky cliff that you walk up to, where the waves waaay down below crash all the way up to the top. Some days it happens consecutively; other days it's like a 15 minute wait between giant waves. You're supposed to conjure the waves by saying, "¡Jacinto, dame la vaca!" (Jacinto, give me the cow!) I say it three times, like you do with "Bloody Mary." The story is that a farmer used to pass by with his herd of cattle and had his favorite cow tied to him. Then one day that cow fell in, so the two of them plunged to their deaths together. When you say, "Jacinto, give me the cow!" This place, which I had stumbled upon on accident, has been a Spiritual Place for me. The first time I showed up here, I was with my exboyfriend and we encountered an old jibaro man that was just sitting with his legs facing the bridge - and he told me the story of the Old Man falling with his mule and then walked away... 2 years later, I went back to Pozo De Jacinto, and another man had walked up to me, this time with a woman but she seemed distracted, and he seemed oddly not concerned by her lack of focus on anything and despite telling him I already heard the story - he looked me in the eyes and re-explained the story... and then walked away without another word.
I'm not sure how this all connects to me spiritually but it definitely has been a place that I consider one of my...
Read moreThis is a fascinating natural wonder! The hole is mesmerizing, especially when the waves are high, creating an impressive display as water shoots up through the rocks. The area offers stunning ocean views and rugged cliffs, making it a perfect spot to explore, take photos, and feel the raw power of nature. Be cautious near the edge, as it can get slippery. It’s an ideal stop if you’re in the area and looking for something unique!
We visited a nearby beach and took a short hike, climbing over rocks to reach this spot. There’s also a boardwalk that makes it easier to explore. The main photo spot is actually quite safe and more spacious than it appears in pictures, which often makes it look narrower and more adventurous. But with children may not be recommended as rocks might be slippery and have to be more cautious...
