If you are in no hurry, then this is your spot, and you just want the experience by the beach, then you'll be okay here. But, if you are used to real service, stay away from this place- The wait to get in was ridiculous, just to get a table. We had 7 people in our part. For some odd reason, they are still under some sort of COVID restrictions. So, like any of the thousands of bars I've been to before , I wanted to order a beer while I waited; that took about 20 minutes, just to ask for a beer, mojito, and bottle of water. So, after 1:10 minute wait, we get a table. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and dinner. 45 minutes go by, and we don't see our waitress. We had finished our drinks 30 minutes earlier. I had to wait another 10 to get my second beer. Any other place would have made a good bit of money off of me by this point. Our food finally comes out, cold, and missing a lot from our order. My oldest son was so tired of waiting, he went to wait in the car. The waitresses, who did not check on our table for 45 minutes, blamed another waitress for taking our food to another table. Mind you, they were not busy, AT ALL! After all of this, we have to repeat our orders to the waitress so she can fast-track the orders that were missing. There are several other places to visit in that immediate area, I suggest to try other places before bothering with this place. Side note, this was my first time in 30 years back to the island, and this place was the first place I visited to have dinner with my family. First impression for SONIDO DEL...
Read moreAmazing place! First of all, the location, right on the beach, is lovely. Second, normally, on the beach, food is insanely expensive, but it was very reasonable.
The service was excellent. No matter who it was, someone would come by and help at any given time and they didn't care if it was their table or not. Everyone was super nice and helpful and patient. My wife and I her birthday and it was truly awesome.
The food was on a different level. It was absolutely delicious. The sauteed potatoes were just amazing. They have purple potatoes and golden potatoes and mixed with bell peppers and onions that were sauteed and just truly delicious and unlike anything I've had in Puerto Rico yet. The bifongo (or dufongo) which is mixed mashed plantain with mashed sweet plantain, was also superb. And the arroz mamposteado was moist and full of rich flavors. I also had the whole snapper fried with garlic sauce on the side and lime, while my wife had the grouper in the white sauce.
All around, I don't usually give such a glowing review but it...
Read moreThe service here is beyond slow. I got here at 5:00pm and was told there would only be a 15 min wait to sit outside overlooking the ocean. Fast forward to over an hour and a half of waiting for the table and asking about when my party would get seated. The response I get from the hostess is “well we don’t really know how long.” Then once a table cleared off, someone who was sitting at the bar moved to the table and started drinking his beer there. We informed the waitress of this and despite her saying it was out table since we were next, the hostess stated there was nothing she could do about it because he was already sitting down and was drinking. Then once we finally got our table, the food took over an hour and 15 mins to come out. It was average food and nothing special. I would advise anyone if they had endless time to wait around for a table or if they liked mediocre food, to try this place. But me personally, I’ll never be back and I’ll never recommend this...
