I want to start off this post by saying this is only the second review I have given a business in my life and I would highly encourage reading below if you are thinking about scheduling a new appointment with Frangipani.
I saw Cailey on October 20th, 2016. It was my first time to the salon and it had been highly recommended by my close friends (who see Nikki). I told her what I was looking for in terms of color tone and cut and proceeded to get a full highlight. I left the salon with partially wet hair as I was the last person in the chair that night and did not take a closer look at my end result until the following day. When I had the opportunity to look at the results with dry hair, I was shocked. My "highlights" started almost a full inch down from my roots. I have been highlighting my hair for almost 10 years and had never had this issue before, so I called back to schedule a touch up and fix the hair I had just gotten done. The results from my touch up were better, (the highlight still sat about 1/4 of an inch away from my root) but there was improvement.
I decided for my next standing appointment on December 8th, 2016, I would give the same stylist another shot, now that we had conversations around the frustrations with my roots showing. I saw her again on that day and again the next day woke up to see my new highlight sitting about 1/2 inch from my roots. Now my third time seeing this stylist and visiting the salon, and second time calling for a touch-up, I called the Frangipani and asked if I could schedule another touch up with a different stylist. I was given push back on this as they told me they could only schedule touch ups with the same stylist. I told them I would be near their location later in the afternoon and would stop in to handle this then (thinking that when they saw my root, they would be more flexible). When I stopped at the salon in person, I showed them the clear line between my roots and highlights and shared my frustrations of this long process. I was told I had asked for the wrong service and not communicated to my stylist what I wanted which was a root cover up. I then shared with them I had been highlighting my hair since 7th grade...and that having your roots covered as a not natural blonde was the entire point of getting highlights. They still gave me push back on scheduling my touch up with another stylist (even though I told them I didn't want to waste another TWO hours seeing the same stylist I did not like for the FOURTH time) and they suggested I simply schedule a standing appointment in the future with a different stylist. What I was most appalled with was the customer service. In this industry, at the point when you have made a customer unhappy several times, the usual practice is to be accommodating of their needs and wants within reason. I did not think that asking for a different stylist was a crazy request, and yet they would not even concede to that.
The same day, I stopped by Cortello Salon to visit a friend who was getting her blown out for an event. Just out of curiosity, and because I was unhappy from my recent conversation at Frangipani, I asked a few stylists at Cortello "If you had to guess the last time I had my hair highlighted, what would be your timeline?". They told me they would've guessed 5-6 WEEKS. When I told them it had been SEVEN DAYS since I last had my hair done, they were shocked. They booked me on the spot, without barely any free appointment space, with a blonde specialist in the salon.
Yesterday, December 22nd, 2016 (now exactly 14 days after my appointment at Frangipani) I had my hair re-done at Cortello Salon. They took before and after photos that I would like to post below to show you all visually how AWFUL my results were from Frangipani and how AMAZING my results were from Cortello.
Bottom line-It may have just been my stylist Cailey, who provided bad service in highlighting hair, but the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I would not recommend Frangipani if you are searching for a new salon in...
Read moreUpdate: I'm very surprised that Kelly Weary will go to great lengths to "retaliate" for a negative Google review by googling your work place and calling your employer to "report" you for being unprofessional.
Update on my review from 05/07/2021 in regards to the lack of professionalism and poor business tactic of this salon:
An hour after I posted my review, Kelly (my apologies: not the owner but the manager) calls me from a restricted phone number. Since it was a restricted number, I did not answer the call. She left me a voicemail saying that she saw my Google review and to call the salon back and if not, she will call me on Monday. Nowhere in the voicemail did she apologize for the misunderstanding that lead to this and offer to make amends to salvage the business relationship. Instead, she was defensive.
So today on 05/10/2021 at 12:13 PM, Kelly calls me but this time the salon number appears on my phone. When I answered, she immediately starts berating me and insulting me, saying that her time is more valuable than mine. She said if I really were 10 minutes late and in their parking lot during my original appointment on 05/06, then I would have came inside the salon. But if someone is rude to you on the phone and tells you to "take your business somewhere else" and hangs up on you, would you want to go inside the salon and continue to be insulted? During today's phone conversation, she again never apologized for the misunderstanding or offer to do something to keep a new client. So I'm not sure what the point of her phone call is except to insult me and be a bully to the point where I just had to disengage by hanging up.
In conclusion, this is poor business tactic. Kelly insulted my job as a physician. As a physician, we would not turn away a patient who is running behind especially if this were their first offense because it is unethical and uncompassionate. Again, this is poor form and an insult to healthcare providers who are endlessly caring for Covid patients....
Read moreI have not even been able to go to the salon. I researched everything myself looked online at staff went through their linked profile to choose a stylist. I moved here and have been to 3 places 2 of which I tried twice to give a second chance. I’m really a quite simple person but I put a bit more effort in choosing a place this time. I did the book online on a Saturday night. I figured they would reopen Tuesdayand respond. Nothing through Tuesday so Wednesday I called to follow up on appointment request/make an appointment was never able to get someone one the phone. Kept leaving messages getting call back phone tag from different numbers which was weird. Finally able to talk to some one and requested an appointment 3 weeks in advance with a particular stylist (midrange) and was told in a sassy attitude “we book pretty far in advance here” now I worked in a salon (upscale Aveda and Davines) for 15 years. I know how it goes. So I offered the suggestion of knowing Saturdays are top requested is there other availability? To an answer of “um well do you want to see some one else” I replied no thank I had done my research and preferred selected stylist. “Well um I guess we could do (another date), so are you new? Have you been here before?” Me no. By the way I’d like a partial foil and cut. How late in the day can I make something for those services? “Um it depends” “um do you want (another day)?” I’m going to have to check my work schedule now that I’m back home when I get back tomorrow and call back. I won’t call back you had 4 opportunities to schedule an appointment. I should not have to track down the appt and come up with all the alternatives and to a pretentious phone attitude. I didn’t even get in the door and very...
