Went back to hot dog hut after seeing the good reviews. the chicago dog is still pathetic.
Ht dog had wrong texture... and it was grille instea of steamed. At least this time they steamed the bun.
But quit calling it a chicago dog and grilling, not steaming, the meat.
2021 review: true Chicago-style hot dog is almost always steamed, both the hot dog itself and the bun. This method ensures the dog is juicy and the bun is soft and warm, creating the perfect texture to complement the fresh toppings.
It may be the best hotdog in Jax, but I hope not. It certainly wasn’t authentic or very good. The Chicago dog came on a bun that was out of the package, not steamed. The ingredients were appropriate (green relish, celery salt, etc.) except I am not sure what brand of hot dog it was. The meat was acceptable.

Well, I think the hype is not in line with the product. My Chicago dog that I asked come with extra peppers came with 1 pepper. Ok, I could let the lack of peppers go, but the fact that my husband's Texas dog came with a scant amount of chili is hard to forgive. The long wait (15 minutes) sealed the three star fate. They were not super busy, and I just find it hard to justify a 15 minute wait for two hot dogs to go.
The actual quality of their products you can tell are good and I may be being a little hard, but if you are going to tout the best hot dog in Jacksonville you are held to high standards. I think this place is worthy of another shot and they were not horrible by any means....

I was hoping you kept it on the menu" New owner: "The other people never sold it either" Me: "huh?, I had a kielbasa and kraut twice a month here for 10 years" New Owner: "Impossible, I told you WE don't sell it and the previous owners never sold kielbasa" Me: "But even the sign on your door says KIELBASA" New Owner: The door is 20 years old.
All he had to say was, I'm sorry we don't sell that - can I get you something else.
What was once a GREAT place on the beach - has turned into a money grab an owner who clearly has no idea the meaning of...
