Sun Deli — Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach

Omg omg omg. Listen I like a good meatball sub as much as the next guy (maybe a little more, I'm pretty passionate about my sandwiches) but this sub was the greatest thing I've ever put in my mouth. It's an unassuming little deli with no frill about it. The wait staff was helpful and patient, they had a good menu (lots of selection but not massive like some places that hand you a 50,000 word novel that you have to try to find the spaghetti in). I'm a big fan of a classic meatball sub so that's what I ordered and let me tell you folks. Incredible. The bread was toasted to perfection, the meatballs were just the size where you could take a bite out of them without a needing a knife to hack off a piece but not so small that it's like trying to hold a piece of bread without letting a bunch of gumballs covered in marinara fall out. speaking of the marinara, it was a wonderful consistency with great spices, a wonderful color, and a hard to achieve richness. I was absolutely covered in this marinara as I attacked my sandwich with absolute unrestrained gusto. Well here you go. I’ve lived at the beach since 1977 and I’m ashamed to say I had never tried Sun Deli until about 6 weeks ago my son turned me on.

Somehow I always just ended up at other “go to” local sandwich shop favorites like most folks do.

So thank you Hunter for turning me on and Bridget thanks you too. We have had at least one visit a week for the last 6 weeks.❤️

I have become a “Hot Heart Attack “ fanatic. I have it like it comes minus onions and add Egg Salad. That sounds crazy when I heard my son order it I thought he was being too exotic. Not at all, it is CRAZY how good it is. I wish I had one right now.

I really think it boils down to excellent meat, and the bread comes in fresh every morning from Cinottis Bakery and it is outstanding.

So don’t make the mistake I did and keep driving by without stopping. Go in and give it a try. It’s a great sandwich shop. Super nice folks and quick excellent service.

First time here, will be the last time. WORST SERVICE EVER! I like to support local business and this is why I would drive an extra 5-10 min passing firehouse subs to this deli but they have completely lost my business today! I order two sandwiches from here. One was for my co worker and one was for me. When I brought it back to work, I realize my sandwich got cheese in it. I'm very allergic to dairy. I called and asked if the owner could remake the sandwich. She told me to take off* the melted cheese off my sandwich myself, even know I told her that I was allergic to dairy. I can't believe someone who works in a restaurant would said that to their customer. I don't thinks she understand what an allergy can do to a person.
