One of the Beaches favorite breakfast places! Really good food, reasonable prices, nothing overly fancy. This is an easy going, friendly place. Come in on your way to work, lunch break, or after hitting the surf for morning waves and fun. Standard breakfast and simple lunch menu, probably hasn't changed much since it opened. They have daily specials and senior discounts.
The staff are usually there for years and years. I know I've seen at least 4 of them for 10 plus years. That should tell you how great a place is to work at. The people get to know you, treat you like beloved family! If you're a regular or even an infrequent visitor but have a standard favorite drink or meal, and make it a habit to get the same server, they will start your drink and swing past you as you get situated to see if you're getting your "usual", write it up and have the kitchen start it. My mom and grandmother would go at least 3 times a week before my grandmother passed. The moment they saw them hit the door they'd start their food, even if they had to wait for a table. Mom and gran would have drinks within 2 minutes regardless of who served them. As I would show up once every 2 to 7 months for breakfast with them(didn't get many mornings free when they were going to be there) , they always remembered what and how I liked my drink and my usual (coke, light ice and a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, no garnish and no cranberry, with a double order of bacon).
If you like iced tea, apparently these folks have some of the best you'll find locally. They are more than happy to fix you a to-go cup.
The only negatives I can offer you are, are these. It's a Beaches favorite. You will find it is almost always busy and frequently there are waits to get a table. Parking can be a challenge. If you have trouble finding a spot to park, odds are that you'll have to wait you park your butt too! If you're looking for something fancy or creative with your food, this isn't your spot. This is good, basic breakfast and lunch fare. If you have the taste for simple meals like pancakes, eggs, bacon, coffee, biscuits and gravy or sandwiches and lunch plates like hot roast beef or turkey over bread with gravy and potatoes...THIS IS YOUR SPOT!!! Lastly, they don't do dinner. Sorry folks, they do breakfast and lunch only, during breakfast and lunch times. I believe they close at 3pm, although it could be 2pm. Check online. I know they...
Read moreOn a whim, I decided to take my mother to Beach Hut Cafe for a late breakfast/ early lunch. It was a weekday so I thought that it would not be too busy. I was completely wrong. The restaurant was practically at seating capacity with only a handful of tables left available. We found a table, barely big enough for four people, crammed in the front window. It was enough for her and I, however, we had my infant granddaughter with us also, in a stroller.
I asked for a highchair which they did bring us, but the highchair was not quite tall enough for my granddaughter. She would’ve been at perfect height to gum the side of the table so I left her in her stroller which made for very cramped seating arrangements in the corner… but we did what we had to do.
The menu was quite extensive, but no children’s menu so that made it quite challenging to find something for my granddaughter to eat. Thank God she likes mashed potatoes! Because the restaurant was busy, it did take some time for the food to be delivered to the table. Our waitress was the sweetest 50+ year-old lady that I think I have ever met. Each time she came to the table she had a smile on her face and addressed each one of us ,including the baby. She also made numerous suggestions while I was trying to determine what the baby could eat from the menu.
The day that we chose to eat at beach hut, it seemed as though their air conditioner may have been broken. It was uncomfortably warm, but like I said, the restaurant seemed to be close to capacity, as well as the temperature being near 95° outside that day. I did notice several portable fans stationed around the restaurant, which makes me think that the air conditioner wasn’t working.
Regardless of the uncomfortable temperature/ possible AC issue and the lack of a children’s menu, I would still highly recommend the beach hut Café. It has long been a beaches favorite for breakfast even though this was my first visit! I’m glad we gave...
