I had booked a wash with blowout and makeup. I paid for an extra long session as I have very long and thick hair. I arrived 7 minutes late. I was stuck behind a truck going 35 on highway. I couldn’t call as my ph was out of reach and I was driving on a highway. I pulled up in front of door, went in and waited at desk for the reception to acknowledge me. She looked at the time and said I was late and she had to go talk to the stylist to see if I could still be seen. She went to the back and I waited for a few more minutes. The stylist came up and said they don’t take clients if 15 minutes or more late. I glanced at my phone and it was still only 14 minutes after. I didn’t point that out or argue or show the time Google maps said I arrived. I didn’t point out the time it took to check me in or go to the back to talk about my appointment. Your salon employees wasted 7 minutes of that time you were counting that still only totaled 14 minutes. They said they were booked back to back and couldn’t accommodate my appointment. I pointed out I had booked and paid for an extra long appointment AND makeup. So why did they book someone right after me and for a normal time slot? This is obviously an oversight on your behalf. Why did I pay extra for a regular time slot? I even made mention in notes to make time for my hair, etc… The stylist touched my hair and told me they could do a braid but no wash or blow out. They didn’t have the time for anything else. The tone was dry and rude. In addition, I would not get my money back. So I paid for someone to sit in the break room? They did say they could do my makeup. I said no to the braid. I needed the wash. I had not washed my hair and I had an important event to go to. I did not want a braid, I could braid my own hair, I wanted it down. I did get my makeup done and it was wonderful. I did have to sit and wait a while for that. As he was working with his 1st client. So I had to sit there, fuming! He was very cordial. I would use him again, if he worked somewhere else. I never received an apology. I’m still upset that they penalized me financially for their error in not booking me appropriately. I may still be able to find the google map time stamp to prove I wasn’t there “15 minutes or more” late. If they have a zero tolerance for late, they should state that and they should have offered to reschedule me for another day or maybe called me when it was my appointment time and I still had not shown. I could have hit the accept call button on my car speaker and they would have at least known why I was delayed. We could have rescheduled and I could have turned around and booked and called my regular hair stylist. The blow outs at blo bars tend to hold better so I thought I’d try this place instead. My bad! The makeup artist was Uber nice and did my makeup the way I asked. It lasted so well through the day. I ended up having to go home and shower and wash my hair, trying not to get my face wet. I blew my hair dry but had no time to style it. This did make me late for my event but I wasn’t going with oily hair! Regarding the makeup, I did have to re-powder my face and put a touch more lipstick on but given that I had showered, the makeup held up very well. It’s a testament to the good work. Unfortunately I will still give one star due to the horrible treatment regarding my hair. It was my 1st experience with them and my last. I’m including pictures to show how well the makeup looked. Second picture was later in day so it was a bit oily by then. To make it worst, they still send me emails saying they miss me. What a joke!!!! I would never go back to a place that treats new clients with...
Read moreAMAZING COVID-19 Precautions! HIGHLY TRAINED STAFF!
I feel VERY SAFE going here. There are signs (all over the place) saying “MANDATORY MASKS” and I see the staff constantly sanitizing every single surface. I also like that all the clients are spaced apart. Every other station is closed off. And drink service is temporarily paused keeping up with the Mandatory Mask policy. I’m not sure what that previous reviewer (aka “Karen”) was talking about -because this place goes OVERBOARD WITH THE COVID-19 precautions ! It’s really UNFAIR that someone can post a FALSE claim on Google and due “serious potential harm” to a “struggling small business” during these unprecedented times. Especially when is is blatantly false.
I appreciate all the hard work and effort the new owner, Heather and the fabulous staff (Stephanie, Rebecca, Shannon, Katie, Philip, etc) have put into not only turning this place around, but one of the best places to get a Blowout in Jacksonville! A complete 180 from when it first opened with the previous Owner.
When I say I adore this place, I mean it! I look forward to my weekly blowouts. My zen time. My relaxation time. My time-out from crazy daily life.
The staff always ask me about my day and what’s going on in my life, and they are sincere about it, they truly care. Rebecca has even given me a complimentary Head Massage the day I was having a really bad day, and a gift at Christmas.
My hair has never looked better. I have natural, kinky hair and they never complain about it, or charge me extra like other places.
When they are finished with me, I literally have RUNWAY ready hair! Every time. My confidence has grown ten fold just since I started going back to Blo Jacksonville this year. And the monthly MEMBERSHIP is worth it.
I can’t say enough great things about this place. The staff - the best!! Thank you Blo Jacksonville. We are lucky to have you in the area. Looking forward to the 2nd location even...
Read moreEDIT Following Owner's response: Heather was quick to reach out and apologize, as well as offering a refund for the service. In addition, she offered myself and a guest the "pink carpet experience". My mother had Shannon and I had Phill, the guest experience was far better, for service we both had wash and blow outs. While my first time there was a let down, this helped make up for it.
ORIGINAL Review: I would not come here for an updo. My appointment was at 11:30, and at the time of writing 4:00p, my updo has completely come unpinned. The email said to wash your hair the night before, this to me meant not to put any product in (texturizer) because the stylist would. I have thin straight hair and after showing the girl what I wanted, a curly piece-y updo, she went in with a straight iron to curl my hair. By the time it was in the updo my hair just looked straight and it was too low for the dress I showed her so she unpinned everything to redo it. I told her I normally spray my hair before I curl it and she had better luck doing that and switching to a wand. In the end my hair looked closer to the picture of what I wanted but now an hour before the event I am redoing the whole thing myself because it didn’t hold. Very, very, disappointed for...
