For a big church it's okay. I came for the first time about 11 years ago. Then visited seven or eight times over the years. It's true about the buildings being a maze. It's very confusing navigating and you'd be lucky finding someone to help you so it's kind of a good thing police are always there to help out. I don't care much for their, "Meet and greet." At least the way it was a couple years ago. So hopefully they changed it. After being ignored for an hour and a half. They came up to me, "Hi. Is this your first time?' Oh Welcome back. Have you met Pastor Brunson? Okay, we'll introduce you to him." They grabbed my shoulders and (literally) steered me quickly through the sea of people. There's a special area where the Pastor, church officials and staff were all in this line, "Hi. Welcome to first Baptist. Here's a brochure." Then it was on to the next person. Same thing, the entire time this person was still steering me by my shoulders.. I had a question I wanted to ask but they seemed too busy. Then after meet and greet they said goodbye, turned around and start talking to people and I find myself standing alone dazed and confused. I mean I can understand being busy cause they do have about 20,000 members. But still, it was extremely rushed and impersonal. The members are nice but a lot of times they ignore me so I wait till service starts before I go so I won't feel awkward sitting there alone. But at least I get something out of the sermons and Pastor Brunson has some really good insights. But I sometimes wish the congregation would show they're still alive...
Read moreMy wife and I have been able to attend this church one time and were welcomed by such wonderful, charming, and helpful people. We've decided to eventually move and make this our future home church and are praying for God's leading in the matter. Why? Because every Sunday, as we watch by internet connection, we hear such God-only-honoring worship, a message from God through Dr. Brunson that always fills the spiritual soul, a virtual plethora of ministries and groups to become active in service for the Lord, and there are people at practically every Sunday morning service and evening service being baptized as a result of evangelistic efforts being done by those there at FBCJax. If anyone happens to read a negative comment about this church, just chalk it up to that person simply having a bad day or just might be reviewing through a critical,...
