I always heard about Hemmings being a top notch place. After a few visits, I purchased a few gold 1oz maples which was smooth transaction. With CC rewards for online payments (3% Cashback + miles etc) they accommodated via the new ultra secure Text to Pay feature Square rolled out. As someone who is still battling identify theft to this day, this is the most secure way to purchase anything as your card # is virtual / dynamic and does not get seen or stored via this method.
I wanted to grab a handful more since they were in stock, but the Owner (Juan) said he felt uncomfortable and wanted to make sure Square insurance covers him the same (which I explained it does and sent direct links to the website, Square rolled this feature out for customer safety and security, as well as their clients wouldn't have to spend tens of thousands for an e-commerce website and can do business anywhere in the world - Win/Win scenario).
A handful of callback timing expectations to me went silent, so I called after those times to inquire but it continually got met with more hostility so I eventually purchased the same way from another spot in town. I could tell they were tired of me so I hadn't called about gold/silver since even though I've been building a large portfolio, but found my partners who gave been great.
Fast forward 3ish months, I called yesterday to inquire about a Rolex they had - 41mm Datejust, oyster bracelet, stainless steel, smooth bezel - as I was going to be meeting someone halfway in Atlanta with cash so thought why not call Hemmings and see if they still have it and for a 100% cash deal if they could compete to save me the drive (even mentioned getting close is worth a few hundred vs the 12 hour roundtrip+ ATL traffic).
Well I'm writing this now because I didn't get a call back and the other seller asked if we were still on to meet. I did not know they were closed today, so decided to write the review as there wasn't the professional common courtesy too even return my call. It was reiterated a handful of times that it is all cash - no square, no card, no certified check - cash aka US Fiat currency.
So, now I at least know and can save the time when looking for a Rolex or prescious metals as my buying method is currently all cash during this time, but I can take a hint - my cash isn't even good enough for them. Somehow it got personal, and in business you never take things personal. This review is not personal - it's just what Google Reviews was created for - for us common folk to share their experiences and this is mine.
Wish Juan & Team Hemmings - especially the younger lady who was always so nice (she made it 2 ⭐ vs 1) - the best! Picture was when I tried it on there - can't wait to own this piece in a few days! Thank you for at least letting me try it on early in our "relationship" because it made it easier to shop and know this is exactly the timepiece I want - wouldn't even consider a different color on the face.
Now wish me luck on my ATL 1 day roundtrip - ugh the worst. Might even check the...
Read moreUnfortunately, I had a bad experience here, I purchased a Rolex from a local broker that has hemming jewelers service prior to purchase, after two days the secondhand fell off, they were very quick to take it in and repair it, but after I picked it up. I had it for 2 1/2 days. It was a graduation gift for my daughter who is a diver like myself, she was swimming laps in the pool and the watch took on water, I notified them and they told me to bring it right in and I was called back stating that it had to be our fault that the watch was fine when I left, we negotiated on a price to have the watch serviced again When I picked it up the pressure tester was not working, so I took it to another local jeweler and had it tested, this time it passed a pressure test, but on a time graph, it was running +103 on time graph and the winding mechanism was very gummy, as if it was not serviced, almost would not turn at all so yet again it was not correct when I picked it up, at this point, I returned it to the broker I purchased from and he purchased it back slightly less than what I paid for it, altogether between the $400 I paid hemming and the $300 I lost from the broker, I had a watch that never worked correctly for not even one day and I lost $700 on the transaction, They had three times to get the watch right and failed, unfortunately, I would not take a Rolex here for service, I have had five Rolexes and I am very familiar with them and know how to take care of them and I would not feel confident having one serviced here Very disappointed, as I said, this was a graduation gift in my daughter was upset more than you can. Imagine, I have since purchased a certified Rolex and she is...
Read moreBest prices in town. Perfect place to go for jewelry repairs, hands down and the easiest to get to around town. I have known these gentleman, Juan and Kire,a very long time, enough that they treat me like family. At least I feel that way, always making me feel special when I walk in the door, wheelchair accessible. I like that because I am in a wheelchair, most of the time. They have lovely, artistic and creative original work to look at every time I walk in. They range in prices from what I can afford, to prices that other people can afford for me ;) LOL but seriously, these guys are the real deal and they're LOCAL. I believe 100 in supporting local businesses. I have sent them literally hundreds of customers over the years because I believe in their product and their originality and creativity. They standby their work and their product. If something isn't quite right for me I'll bring it back and they will make it right, no matter what. They've always been like that, and I know they always will be. I've seen them be like that for anybody else too. These guys are Genuine and that is the key to their longevity of business. When you go in there tell them The flower...
