We had an overwhelmingly negative experience with Mixed Fillings Pie Shop. Unfortunately, this is our first and only experience with this business and we will never attempt to go here again after how we were treated by the owners. About a week ago after eating lunch nearby, we were interested in dessert. We regularly go for ice cream, but when searching the Yelp app we discovered this business and thought that we would give it a try. The hours were clearly posted in Yelp so we headed to the business. This business is a bit hidden, but there was a prominent A frame type sign on the sidewalk saying they were open. We proceeded through the small alley to the back of the building only to find a smaller A frame type sign sitting directly in front of the door saying they were closed. We left, but I did reach out to the business to see what the discrepancy was with the hours. Apparently, new customers really are disliked, because I was told in no uncertain terms that they were special order only. Wow, why have business hours posted in Yelp, Google and other online listings when there are actually no walk-in hours? Most of these listing sites have a by appointment only option. I then proceeded to post a review on Yelp which reflected by personal experience with this business. I gave them 3 stars which I thought was incredibly fair based on my personal experience. These owners really have some gumption. The fair and accurate 3 star review triggered them so much that they reported the review to Yelp as a fake review. I then re-wrote my review making sure to include that this was my personal experience and they reported it again. They deserve no stars. We will never give our money to this business and will make sure people know exactly what type of mom and pop business this place is.
Update: Please take a look at the businesses response. It pretty much speaks for itself. However, since I am being accused of slander, defamation and breaking the LAW, I'll say a few more things below. They admit to reporting the reviews to Yelp. They admit to my actually visiting the business. They falsely state that they offered me a pie and I declined it when no such offer was ever made.
From the business owner: "Yelp removed your review because it was deemed inappropriate and didnāt follow their guidelines, it was not removed for being fake. Don, let me remind you, youāre using Slanderous terms towards my business and family. Again your Past review was removed by YELP because it violated their terms probably like this one does."
From Yelp: "...removed your review of Mixed Fillings Pie Shop because it wasn't clear that your review described your firsthand experience as a customer of the business. Flagged Content: Currently only orders a day in advance. Don't just stop by or you will be disappointed like we were."
Notice the flagged content was about having to order in advance and telling folks not to just stop by like we did. 100% factual.
2nd e-mail from Yelp after the owner reported my 2nd review: "...removed your review of Mixed Fillings Pie Shop because it wasn't clear that your review described your firsthand experience as a customer of the business. Flagged Content: Just not good. Left an honest review based ob my personal experience and crooked owners reported it to yelp as being a fake review. It wasn't and my direct and personal experience with this business is now a completely negative one. Congratulations Mixes Fillings Pie Shop on earning your solid 1 star review. Next time, how about modifying your hours in Yelp sometime during the 6 month window you had?"
Please note the flagged content in which I do clarify my direct experience with this business as being my own personal experience and do characterize the owners as being "crooked" which still remains my experience after they reported my factually accurate reviews in an attempt to have them removed and now have posted falsehoods saying they offered me a pie and I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWithout a doubt the best pies I've ever had. My boyfriend and I walked in out of curiousity and ended up ordering 4 slices to go; french silk, peanut butter, creme brulee, & key lime.
The french silk was delicious. The filling was perfectly smooth and the espresso whipped cream complemented it very well.
The peanut butter was heaven. It was exactly what I wanted in a peanut butter and chocolate pie. The little crunchy bits were the most pleasant surprise against the light and fluffy peanut butter filling.
The creme brulee. Oh my goddd the creme brulee. I did not want to order this pie. Usually I find creme brulee boring and disappointing. But we were told that this pie was a best seller so I gave it a shot. Thank god. Who would have thought the best creme brulee I had ever eaten would be in a pie?? The filling was yet again so perfectly smooth. The burnt sugar crust against the smooth custard was amazing. This pie was so satisfying and comforting to eat.
The key lime pie was my favorite. A hard decision after eating the creme brulee, but one I stand by. The filling was, you guessed it, so perfectly smooth. The reason I mention how smooth these fillings are so many times is because I need y'all to understand that it is HARD to consistently produce a perfectly smooth custard. And it makes all the difference in bringing a dish to the next level. This is TALENT. The pretzel crust was a welcomed twist to the classic recipe. It brought the salt content of the dish to the absolute perfect level. Finally, the lime whipped cream was the cherry on top of the perfect pie. It's a genius yet subtle way to reinforce the lime theme. This is the best pie I have ever eaten.
I apologize for the novel of a review I've written but I was just so so impressed by the level of talent coming out of this pie shop. And they have a rewards program!! I absolutely cannot WAIT to come back. (how do you get your custards so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIve been wanting to try this place for months! Its a little hard to spot from the street, but its just behind the makeup studio on the back side of the building. We walked thru this quaint little side patio garden full of beautiful vines and seating area. The shop had the cutest little split door with a old fashion dinner bell to ring for service. We were greeted by a super sweet girl who showed us the menu options and packed up our slices. Everything is ready to go and packaged, no waiting necessary. Y'all. When I tell you these pies are heavenly... I mean, you might hear angels singing when you take a bite. The coconut cream was my absolute favorite of the flavors we tried. So deliciously creamy and coconutty. And I should also add I love pie inspite of the crust, but this crust was divine. Soft. Flakey and slightly chewy. Omg. The apple crumble pie was like grandmas comfort food in the form of pie. Sweet and tart, crumbly and amazing. Then we had the chocolate lava pie - attention all chocolate lovers, you've met your match. Its like a decadant brownie pie. Only its better than any brownie you've ever had. Fudgey chocolate, with notes of espresso and the salty crunch of the incredible pretzle esq crust. I died and went to chocolate heaven. Lastly we got the key lime pie specifically for my mom and husband who love key lime pie. Sooooo creamy and not overly tart. A+ all around. Y'all better check this local gem before I go buy out the rest of...
