UPDATE: I don’t care how your staff gets along, I care how they treated me. I don’t know what you’re talking about “my comment made to the stylist about not getting along with people from this area.” I get along fantastically with Floridians and agree Avery was very sweet during my appointment. What I said in my review is that another one of your stylists told me my profession is legalized extortion and that’s beyond unprofessional no matter where you are from. If Avery is part of your teaching structure that should have been said to me because I would never have paid the amount I did had I known the stylist is in training. I booked her based on a Facebook recommendation and an extensive IG feed. If she couldn’t accomplish what we spoke about in our extensive in-person consultation she should have said so. And you’re very wrong about how an incorrect document would be handled in title but I won’t even go there. My negative review came only after getting friction when voicing my frustration and given your response as an owner I am even more firmly in belief that the negative review is warranted so I’m updating it to 1 star. You have my phone number if you felt speaking with you would have made a difference in my experience you could have called me but instead you waited for a review you probably knew was coming and then attacked me. Unbelievable.
Original review:
I’m really disappointed with my experience at Haute Headz. I was excited to try a new stylist after seeing her work on IG (Avery) and was prepared to spend more than I normally would, but I walked out feeling frustrated and like I didn’t get what I paid for—especially at a $300 price point.
The appointment started off uncomfortably when the stylist next to me overheard what I do for a living (title insurance) and commented that I work in “legalized extortion.” Not only was this wildly inappropriate, it made me feel awkward and judged right from the start.
I had a thorough consultation with my stylist and we agreed that to achieve the look I wanted—light ends contrasting with a deeper base—I’d need a full lightening service rather than the partial that was originally quoted. I agreed to the upcharge with the expectation that I’d get the desired result. Unfortunately, that’s not what I got. Instead of a smooth, dimensional color, I ended up with chunky highlights, a grown-out root look, and ends that are still noticeably darker than the base. It looks like a rushed job and not at all the intentional contrast we discussed.
To make things worse, there are two very obvious bright white spots at my hairline where toner was completely missed. I brought this up when I got home and noticed it (Avery really should have caught them when washing or styling my hair, they’re quite obvious) and the stylist did offer to fix it, but her availability didn’t line up with mine. I explained that I couldn’t take another hour and a half off work to come in during the week, given the 30+ minute drive each way, which she knows because we live near each other. Rather than showing understanding, she got defensive and told me it wouldn’t take long and that I should reach out to the salon owner if I had further concerns.
The one bright spot in all this (well, other than the 2 in my hairline) is that the haircut turned out well, which is the only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one. But overall, this was a frustrating experience with results I’m unhappy with and a lack of professionalism I didn’t expect from a salon at this price point. I won’t...
Read moreSo I booked a standard haircut and wash , I wanted some long layers and to keep my length. Pretty standard right? My stylist was Bernette. She's absolutely horrible my layers were choppy and one side was longer she wanted about 6 inches of my hair cut off. I said no and she did about 4 off (not much better). She kept insulting my hair saying my spilt ends were super high (I have previous layers so they were layers not my entire head) she couldn't seem to understand that. When washing my hair she had freezing water and it kept getting in my ears (granted I didn't say anything because some people say cold waters better than hot) but she only warmed it up when she had to wash the shampoo off her hands. I also wanted face framing the photo I showed had the layers starting right above her shoulders she cut them at my chin..... at the end she showed my my hair and I looked in the mirror I held in tears as I was given some 80's bangs done by a 3 year old. The other times I've been here the ladies have been great.... just not Bernadette or whatever her name is. My mother payed so I'm not sure of the exact price(I sat in the car and cried that my beautiful hair looked horrible) but it was still too much for what I got. Please of you go here don't ask for Bernadette. She also kept editing insulting me... "god you must love heat your spilt ends are crazy" was one that stuck.... I can't remember the last time I used a straightener. Please please don't make the mistake...
Read moreThe first time I ever went to Haute Headz was back in April. Emily was the stylist that was working on my hair. I told her I wanted a reverse balayage. It was a complete disaster. It looked like she just put a bowl on my head and went in a circle and made the top brown and the bottom blonde. I went back a few days later and let her “fix it”. When I went back Amanda (the salon manager) helped her fix my hair and at that point I did a full foil because I realized EMILY could NOT do what I wanted. Every time I went back to Emily there was something Wrong and Amanda had to help her fix it. I told her that I do NOT want my hair to look yellow or to have an ashy tone and every single time I went to her that’s what she did. She rushed on my hair and it showed! (My Fault For going back to her multiple times)
Recently I went back to to get my hair done and I found out that Emily no longer works there so I was going to be Amanda’s client now. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!!! She did my reverse balayage and gave me a money piece in the front! I finally had my hair looking the way I wanted it too! Plus she gave me the best haircut I have had In like 3 years!
If you need an amazing stylist then Amanda is definitely your girl!
I will say the salon will make sure you are satisfied with you experience and will do whatever they can fix a situation. I am greatful for Jenn (the owner) and Amanda (the salon manager) for always fixing my hair when it needed...
