My kids have been coming to this place for 3 years and absolutely love it. Besides the occasional times my kids have gotten sick, never had many issues. I have my kids birthday parties here. My concern currently is yesterday when we went at the FIRST time slot available; my 5 year old managed to get their leg IN BETWEEN a zip tie that is holding the net to the giant Playset. Another parent had to run up there and help me break the zip tie as my child was suspended in the air.
Additionally, there was a large hole above the slide that my child thought was funny to try to stick their head through. Obviously I corrected my child. However, this is still a serious safety concern and should be checked CONSTANTLY and addressed asap. Not once a week!
I called the manager the next day who told me once a week someone comes through to check the safety of the net and the playset. She Then proceeded to tell me that the large hole in the net above the slides must’ve occurred the same day because the employees check the nets every night. That is not possible, because we arrived at the very first timeslot that was available that day.
I tried to explain to her that the zip tie was also loose because there’s no possible way my child could have slipped their entire leg through a zip tie in between the foam padding on the side; She continued to say it must’ve happened that day and that the employees are very busy.
My child is not a small kid. The zip tie had to have been loose. A zip tie that is loose connected to the foam siding can cause a child to slip through the side off the playset, and the only thing holding a child from falling down is that cheap net that the employees supposedly check every night? I think not.
Additionally, we have a birthday party planned there and I cannot get any refund for the party. I will lose 50% of the funds that I paid so I will continue to have my birthday party there for my child and we just have to ensure that a parent is in there with kids, because the employees do not effectively check the netting for safety. Most of the employees that work there are likely high school or early college kids who genuinely don’t care. It’s just a job to them. Nothing wrong with them personally I was at age once with a job that wasn’t a serious career for me so they genuinely do not care and probably do not check the netting every single night. They are NEVER been too busy the 20 times we’ve been here to check for safety hazards.
My kids enjoy this place so much so we will likely still attend here and have the birthday party where I can’t get my money back but if you’re a parent you need to make sure you watch your child extreme amount on that place and be up there with them or have an older child who is capable of watching younger kids because your childs safety is at risk on that play set. And because you sign a waiver, the facility and the employees and manager genuinely don’t...
Read moreI want to start off by saying that I am not normally one to leave negative reviews on businesses but this place deserves the lowest star rating they can get and I want to speak up on my experience with Mega Play- Jacksonville. We went to Mega play for the first time last weekend after I had did a google search looking for something to do with my toddler in the area on a rainy day. I greatly regret choosing to come here. We were at Mega Play for a total of about 15 mins. As you can see in the photo I have posted, my 4 year old daughter was having the TIME OF HER LIFE! She has autism level 3 and is non-verbal with developmental delays. She was so excited to visit and immediately ran to the toddler section to play with the children who she thinks are her age. She is used to playing with children in the 2-3 yr old range because developmentally she is 2-3 yrs old even though she is the size of a 4 yr old (or larger bc she is tall). My daughter crawled up and went down the slide a total of 1 time and was playing in the ball pit when a Mega Play staff member came over to tell me that we couldn't play in that area because she was 4. I tried explaining to her my daughters disability to be told she was just doing what her manager told her to. I asked who her manager was and she pointed to a young girl with red hair standing at the counter watching us. I walked over and apologized to her that my daughter was in the section and continued to explain that my daughter has a disability and even though she is technically 4 yrs old she can not play with the bigger kids. She interrupted me and with absolutely no empathy and told me it didn't matter. I then had to go over and try to coerce my daughter to play elsewhere. Because she did not immediately get up and leave, the manager then told me that we were no longer welcome and had to leave. I had to pick up my daughter and cause a huge scene with her kicking, screaming and having a melt down all because she was having fun in a ball pit. This was not a busy day and there was only 1 other child playing in the toddler section and she wasn't bothering anyone. Mega Play should be absolutely disgraced at how they treated us and how their poor management and staff behaved that day. I will never return to this establishment and will share my story with every parent I come in contact with. Shame on you Mega Play for not being inclusive of ALL children who just want...
Read moreWe rented the party room at Megaplay for my daughter’s 7th birthday this year. I am someone who really struggle with perfectionism and people pleasing. Thanks to this, party planning means a lot of stress for me. The folks at Megaplay were so kind and accommodating from the first moment I called. They had no problem answering every question I had before booking the room. They also explained clearly the fees and accommodations. In addition, they never made me feel uncomfortable or like an inconvenience for needing more clarification or for asking a second or third time. They also confirmed my time slot and accommodations twice before the date of the party. They made it clear they would do all the decorating all I had to do was drop off my supplies, and there was even an option to have them go buy the supplies for you (for an additional charge.)
All of that is great alone, but the staff really went above and beyond to support me. My daughter woke up sick the day of her party and I frantically called crying and defeated that everything was ruined. Not only did Megaplay have no problem rescheduling me, but the staff went out of there way to offer me reassurance and support that everything would be okay. Not as a customer, but as a stressed out mom thinking way too hard about a pokemon party. The reschedule affected the guest turnout pretty badly and I was fretting around in circles most of the party. Josh and Joyanna were right there for me the entire time. They checked with me every few minutes to make sure I was doing okay. They let me take the reins wherever I felt comfortable, but had no probably helping me direct the flow of the party in my stressed out state. I cannot count the number of times they told me “if you need anything at all please don’t hesitate to let us know.”
The sincerity of the staff at Megaplay made every difference in the world for me. Thank you so much to Josh and Joyanna for having next level customer support. It was so clear my experience mattered to them as a person not just a customer. They were really able to help turn my entire mood about the party around. I’m so grateful this is where we chose to celebrate and I would give more stars...
