It is a small public park with a playground, several picnic tables, bathrooms, a fenced dog park trail, and several 1 - and 2-mile walking loop trails marked with colored dots. Some aggressive mountain bike trails/obstacle bike courses, a nature center, and an archery course(paid membership). This is a protected natural flood plain strip along the Ortega river about 5 miles long and 2 miles wide running parallel to hwy17 and the river. So it is flat muddy pine trails, an easy walk path, but lots of tree roots don't recommend atvs the trails aren't wide or well paved. Great fenced for dog area. Otherwise, leash law is posted everywhere . Lots of small, sleepy wildlife, squirrels, armadillos, owls, lizards, birds, bugs, and turtles. Very rarely, you might spy a deer, otter, nutria, snapping turtle, or the swamp puppies, herbert, and gerald near the big island trail bridge. Please remember to not litter or feed and wildlife. They are being looked after. Like this park is right next to the CSX train tracks so nothing big or territorial wants to live nearby, so it's not exciting but it's good for a daily walk, well maintained...

Its not too far, so they work great with younger children, and they also have an observation tower! But, it was down for maintenance when I visited. Looks cool non the less, the original brick path that was laid when that place was a Fort, still remain from 1917. Working bathrooms for men and women thank the lord, I have 3 girls. Play equipment was a little outdated and damaged, but from what I understand, the park is getting a face-lift, so that...

We spent two hours out there walking through the woods. I advise you not to take a stroller back there. We did and my hubby got a real workout getting the stroller over the big tree roots on the trail. The only things that I didn't really like is that the path was just about overtaken with foliage and broken tree limbs at one point and that there wasn't any real view of anything. It was strictly woods. We had a good little...
