Hoypoloi Gallery — Attraction in Jefferson Township

This is a letter I sent to the artist Tim Cotterill about the business practices of this gallery. “

I want to make you aware of a situation that I experienced with one of you authorized galleries. Recently I purchased a frog from the HoyPoloy gallery in Chicagos O’Hare air port online. I found out that I was charged sales tax which I questioned because it was an order from Florida. Up on inquiring I received a email that stated that I was sold a frog from “the owners private collection “ and he lives in Florida there for I was charged sales tax. My reply was that I had no idea that I was buying a second hand sculpture nowhere in the description did it say that it was a previously owned sculpture. I buy from galleries to make sure I get artists originals that are new. There are a string of emails I received from them but I don’t want to get into them. If you are interested I can forward them to you but I think that you should know that the gallery in question is peddling in second hand sculptures that are sold as new to...

I purchased a small sculpture from Hoypoloi online. Gallery did not ship the sculpture and refused to provide a refund - simply kept the $ and are now ignoring my communications! Thieves! - do not trust for online purchases or for them to ship your artwork if you purchase in any of their galleries!!

I bought a piece of art sticker price said $359. They charged me $459 and I argued the sticker said $359. She continued to scratch off the sticker and tell me they changed the price and didnt put on the new sticker. I said that's false advertisement and I expected to pay sticker price.
