CTown Supermarkets — Attraction in Jersey City

REALLY have to look at sell-by and expiration dates!! Recently moved into the neighborhood, which I like, and this is the closest grocery store. The only issue is with the "fresh" stuff. The produce is alright, but you will come across some things that are clearly a bit old. Went to buy bagged salad and noticed that all of them were a week older than their "best before" date. I really don't like buying meat there. Everything looks pale and the sell by date is usually that day or, at most 2 days later. Better plan on drinking that entire container of milk in 48 hours too. I now make separate meat trips to other supermarkets. Prices are alright and the store is clean, but I also wouldn't buy deli meats there. Basically, just stick to pre-packaged, canned and frozen...

IF YOU WANT TO BE MADE TO FEEL LIKE A CRIMINAL SHOP HERE!!! I used to shop here since i moved to jersey city with no problem, but lately they make you feel uncomfortable: follow you around the store and have an incriminating eye on you and more unnecessary stuff. You are to take measures agains theft, BUT THEY ARE DOING TOO MUCH. I dont know if it has to do with CERTAIN RACES, ect. but THAT MAKES ME FEEL UNSAFE SHOPPING HERE. YOU CANT ASSUME OR TREAT PEOPLE THATS COMES INTO YOUR STORE AS IF THEY WILL STEAL. For my peace of mine and safety ill take my money and myself elsewhere before there is an incident of being wrongfully accused of stealing AND THAT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY OF US!!!! I shop here bc it's one of the only two options walking distance from me. The other store, Bravo, I'm pretty sure is owned by the same people. I do prefer this store over the other though.

ALWAYS CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATES. I always seem to come across already expired groceries (or soon to be expired within the next few days). Always always always double check the exp dates.

Also, watch the prices! Always check the price tag and make sure it matches the product (product name AND size) this store tends to not update the price tag and it's different upon checking out, or the product isn't aligned with the right price tag on the shelf. Always double check.

Produce is way overpriced and tends to be rotten...
