I have been there for just over a year. I started out with three days a week for the first five months, then switched to five days a week. There are still several movements I struggle with. Thankfully, everything is scalable, and the coaches are excellent at discouraging us from pushing too hard. They provide us just right amount of nudging and direction. There is a strong focus on doing things correctly and safely. We have members ranging in age from late teens and into their 60s. Everyone is at some different level of fitness. Yet because of proper scaling, everyone gets an excellent workout; and we all get better at the various movements. All of the classes are fairly small (it is rare for me to attend a class with 10 or more people). So, everyone gets some personal attention to their technique and/or mobility needs in each class. Read moreIt's the coaching. Point blank. There are a lot of people who are elite athletes and can demonstrate a movement perfectly--but can't coach it. Coaching is a separate skill, and Dan and Lara and their coaching staff are true coaches. I have been interested in Crossfit for years, but avoided it because I was afraid I'd get hurt. I am not worried about that at CFJC--I trust them and look forward to trying new things because I know they are watching students closely. Their programming is smart, safe, thoughtful, EFFECTIVE, creative and fun--not random WODs. This Crossfit gym is a huge bargain given the coaching talent available to members--beginners and more advanced. They are also skilled at getting you to articulate your goals and gently reminding you what YOU said you wanted to do and giving you ideas and resources for how to...
Read moreCFJC is an amazing place where incredible things happen. They have some of the best coaches around. And in many classes you will have more than one coach to help with correct lifting form and making sure you are doing it right. Because they listen to members and understand that not all of us are or will ever be competitive at CrossFit, they have added a fitness option along with the regular Crossfit programming. This makes it much better for those looking for general fitness goals. The people, the members and the coaches are what else makes this place amazing. I was encouraged from day one from not only coaches but members, too. Almost two years there and I have made some great friends and gotten so much stronger. Its been an investment in my health and that has been everything! This is where...
