Over the years, I have witnessed this church turn into just one massive show. Unfortunately, I learned some stuff that at first I did not want to believe, but since having distanced myself (I moved), I have realized that it was much worse. If you're looking for a strong community, I would still recommend it. Being a mega church, you'll have no problem finding a place to belong as many formed subgroups. Furthermore, there are still wise and righteous people here propping the church up. That's honestly one of the great things that is providing stars. But we warned, do not come here if you plan to worship the pastor over God. Oftentimes, we pick church because of the pastor, and for a while the pastors were amazing, but I've watched the spirit of control in both the senior and founding pastor cause many to subconsciously begin to worship the pastor. I speak from first hand that when my parents start a sentence with, "Well (pastor's name) said xyz on/in (a sermon date)" it is a major flag. Especially if I can rebuttal it with Bible and Bible/Church history. Furthermore, the pastors sadly are either unaware or deny such a thing, which is not really their fault since to be a "good Christian," it's almost taboo to believe such a thing. During my final years when I expressed my concerns to leaders in my life, I can tell that many just wish to gloss over such phenomena and focus on the good of this church. It wasn't until I moved when I people around me expressed concerns about my behavior when I realized the amount of indoctrination from implied messaging from the pastors, that caused me to be this super messed up human controlled mostly by a spirit of perfection. The final thing I shall write here is that, the student ministry is great if you want a community of friends or are discovering the faith, but for someone who longs for learn more than just "pray this prayer and you'll be saved," you need to realize your motive for why your there and go to adult church or find outside resources like BSF, to really supply that. I have watched all too many of my peers leave the faith because many of the teachings were shallow, there was a lack of resources provided for the kids, and just leaders and other students behaviours. I'm grateful my family was able to detect I needed help long before I did, and plugged me into the many avenues of...
ย ย ย Read moreMy wife and I were visiting Atlanta not knowing if we would find a gathering to worship. On our flight from Phoenix when we boarded there were only seats sitting between passengers. So we sat in different rows with me behind her. This life we both believe that God has a plan for everything and everyone. The two ladies my wife was sitting between didn't say one word to her both had headphones on. I sat between two fine God honoring/loving older people about 15 years my senior. The gentleman and myself immediately spoke to each other. Come to find out we are all born again believers. We talked about the Lord Jesus the entire flight. About how we were drawn by the Holy Spirit also about our struggles and how the Lord has used us both in our lives. Then he asked us if we wanted to attend services the next day Sunday 8/27/23. My wife thought we would miss Sunday service while traveling from the Philippines to the USA. God introduced us to two wonderful people. He invited us to services at Perimeter Church. The worship and Pastors message was very enlightening. The pastor talked about how the Father would shake the heavens and the earth in the end times. He asked if we were living life in anticipation of it. He asked were we living our life for Jesus. Perimeter is a beautiful campus full of wonderful people. Thank you Lord for your sovereignty once again for introducing us to your followers and to worship with all. Patrick picked us up and took us to a wonderful Dim Sum lunch also. Praise the Lord. Thank you for living for...
ย ย ย Read moreI am a previous member and moved on about 5 years ago. Randy Pope was a wonderful leader. He was very inspiring. I loved his complex, thought provoking and challenging sermons. I left after a few sermons Jeff taught. Really I could care less that his favorite Hollywood movie is LaMiserabe. Although it is a story of redemption, he didn't do a very good job glorifying God. I think Jeff has improved. I was invited to a concert on the lawn by a few members, and was confirmed in my thoughts about leaving. The concert was great and they had a great drone show after. Jeff and Jimmy spoke for a few minutes and played a silly game of complete a phrase. No mention of Jesus or glorifying God during the whole time that I was there, which was the majority of time. That's all well and good if you're at a summer concert at a secular park. I couldn't distinguish that church event from a summer concert series secular event. I believe that a church that professes God should glorify him. I mentioned it to a member, she told me I was gossip
ing. I think a church should be held to a higher standard. Thier are several great Christian bands to choose from. Why not glorify God at church event. Scripture tells us that churches will fall away during the end times and I hate that...
