KIM NAILS — Attraction in Johnson City

I am reviewing from my previous experience in April :)

First impression: Clean, quick, thorough.

I called ahead for a pedicure and while I was in the chair I added a full set on a whim! They had a spot ready for me immediately, had plenty (almost too much) colors to choose from, and offered me beverages periodically to make sure I was comfortable and enjoying my experience. I moved on to the full set and Coco did an amazing job. She also finished my pedicure and I loved the way my toes turned out too! She really was so careful with application and shaping during both services. I don't get my nails or toes done often, but when I do I tend to have high expectations when it comes to quality and relaxation.

There were only a couple of bummers but not enough to sway me from not returning or giving a poor review. I wish the pedicure massage was a little longer than it was and also done with lotion instead of the scrub. The lotion is just more relaxing and non abrasive to the skin after excess rubbing.

They didn't have OPI colors. Sure, not the end all be all, and there are some great brands that are just as good or better than OPI... but OPI has some signature shades I would've loved to choose from and names that help me remember what I like to keep in my color rotation. I love the basics, what can I say.

I did not want gel polish for my toes because I like to change my color pretty often... but it was insisted that I get gel. Even if I said "no thank you" MULTIPLE times. I ended up saying yes because I really didn't care to go back and forth and I realized I wasn't leaving there unless I got gel. I didn't hate the finished product so it wasn't the worst thing in the world, obviously, but the experience would've been even better if my "no" was respected more.

*Editing this again because it was a total mess this time! They talk you into doing dip so that they can get somebody else to do your nails and then that guy couldn't do white tips, so I picked a color and it was going okay until my nails were some weird shape. I said I wanted them more rounded so he painted them first? Then proceeded to filed off parts of my polish, not to mention half of my nails aren't even painted on the sides, then buff off the polish he just did? To then paint them? It was so odd and they look like clumpy nail polish you'd have laying around at home and feel bumpy. Its one of the worst polish jobs I've ever had, for almost $50! Geez! If you can't get the 2 or 3 people that know what they're doing.. run.. apparently.

*Update to 5 stars! I've been back two or three times since my original review and just gotten gel polish painted white tips. They are always beautiful! They take their time shaping my nails and making them look prettier (my job is really rough on my hands, so I really appreciate it!) & The staff is always so kind to my little girl! Thank you all!

Very nice place, well-staffed and friendly. 4 stars because my dip nails are really thick, so I can use my nails to do anything. It's very awkward feeling and looking. I wanted white tip shellac paint only, but they asked me to the dip because I had 2 broken nails. Overall, it's okay, but my daughters nail polish just came right off (not chipped, whole nail polish sheets fell off) within 24 hours. It's really pricey as well. I'd go back, but only to hopefully see if things would be better with just gel paint for me. Everybody was really nice to my daughter, and it's a really clean...

I have never been so happy to write a review. I walked in with a reference photo (the one with the snake ring) and asked if they would be able to recreate it and if they had time to do so; the woman that I spoke to told me yes, so I went ahead and got them done. Tony was the one who ended up doing my nails, and he was beyond amazing! I've had such bad experiences at other places (I've been getting my nails done for over 10 years and never found a place I felt comfortable going back to in the tri-cities). Other places have always burnt my nail bed/nicked my skin with the drill/file; and even though they told me they could do the design I wanted, it was never right. Tony was SO gentle with the drill and filing my nails I didn't even feel it, and he never nicked my skin. He absolutely nailed the design and shape perfectly. I was a little worried they may not have been able to do what I wanted since I didn't see my type of style in any of the review photos on here, so I wanted to make sure to post these photos to show anyone looking for something similar to mine that they absolutely can! I have never been so happy with the outcome of my nails before! I also really appreciate that he still took his time to get them perfect even though it ended up taking a little bit of time after they technically were closing. I wish I had a little more cash on me to tip more because they absolutely deserved it. This will be the only nail shop I go to from now on/recommend. I wish I could have gotten the names of the other people I talked to because they were all really nice (I was just so happy with my nails I didn't even think to ask, lol)...but I'll definitely...
