Lack of attention to detail ruins a meal, then forced to wait for a fix that was declined in order to get the check to pay so I could leave.
My wife & I thought we’d enjoy a steak dinner together and chose the Texas Roadhouse because steak is their business. Unfortunately, this evening only the margarita & tater skins were fantastic.
I ordered a 12oz medium rare Ft Worth ribeye, but on delivery more than 30 minutes later, I received a medium well steak.
You might ask what my problem is since it’s still a quality cut. The problem is that I chose a steakhouse that knows their customers are paying to have a particular cut of meat cooked to their desired temp & tenderness.
If you ignore that, then why even bother asking your customer how they want their steak cooked? And good luck finding a customer if you ignore what they ask for.
So, the kitchen failed at cooking my steak to my requested condition, and the wait staff was quick & eager to address the obvious mistake, however, the flow of the meal was ruined. My wife would be finished with her meal before a new steak could be cooked properly, after all it took more than 30 minutes to get it wrong the first time.
I told the eager staff member to forget it, remove the meal from the check, and bring a box for my wife’s leftovers & and the check.
But that’s not what happened and once again there was a failure to pay attention to details. The staff tells me it’s only takes 6 minutes and we’ll have another one out to you cooked the way you wanted.
First of all, I wanted my meal delivered to eat with my wife not in a doggy bag, and second, I just told you NO, I don’t want you to retry completing my order a 2nd time. Just bring my the check with my meal removed.
So, now I’m forced to wait for the Yexas Roadhouse kitchen to cook a steak that I declined and a sour faced manager to walk it out to present to me a meal that should’ve been made correctly more than 30 minutes ago since it apparently only takes 6 minutes to correctly cook a steak according to the wait staff.
I reiterated to the manager that I did not want their 2nd attempt. She stated that she wanted me to have the steak whether it was eaten tonight or as a leftover in the morning. How very presumptuous.
I said I don’t want your freaking steak or your insincere apology or forced to take a bag of whatever home with me. Just take the mistake you made off the check so I can pay it and leave.
Very upsetting experience. Of the 3 visits, only the first turned out well, but not well enjoy to post a review. The 2nd time, they overcooked the prime rib. It was order medium rare and all came to the table medium well. The au jus was able to rehydrate it enough to enjoy, but really that should be considered a major screw up for a steakhouse. Might as well go to your neighbors outdoor grill. So, this 3rd visit and second screw up means I won’t be patronizing your establishment and I’ll share my experience related to your kitchen staff’s incompetence related to cooking a steak the way their customer...
Read moreIt’s unfortunate when the hostess or hostesses, aren’t pleasant or compassionate and ultimately affects the whole evening. We put our names on the list online for a party of 5. My husband and I came into the restaurant first and I shared that I had placed on name on the online waitlist. She then asked if all 5 were there to which I replied not yet. Our family was parking so they weren’t far behind. She said it was policy not to seat until everyone was there. Since there is no guest waiting area or benches to sit, I asked if they could make an exception pointing to my cane for mobility issues and our family was moments from coming in. I have MS and cannot stand for long periods, especially by days end. There was zero regard given to the fact that I am in fact disabled and it was not an unreasonable request. Instead, I was met with no understanding or compassion but that they could bring a chair out. I suppose that would be ok for some but not when you’re literally the only person now sitting in a fold up chair in the waiting area with no other seating. I’m not usually easily embarrassed or affected but this really had me spinning. It’s hard enough for me to deal with a debilitating disease but when I am finally able to get out, this is the kind of treatment I get when teenage girls are the first point of contact for a restaurant. Even after sitting in my chair, I could feel the looks and snickering that was happening. The kicker in all of this, as I was sitting in my foldup chair, 2 people entered clearly looking for their party…. Who had already been sat… without the whole party present. Just a few moments later, our family entered, and I immediately shared that our party was all there. Again, the majority of the hostesses lacked any sort of warmth or personality. We got seated and ultimately service was good but not great, the food was pretty good and the manager did approach making rounds to ask how things were going. I shared my experience and while I felt, she was very sincere with her apology, ultimately, I felt she enabled the behavior of the teenage girls running the front, Ultimately passing it off as them just being teenagers, but she would make sure it was a good learning lesson for them. I appreciate that, but definitely don’t feel she nor anyone should be making excuses for their behavior. Ultimately management hired them, and they are a reflection of Texas roadhouse. The fact that they don’t have seating for waiting guests, especially disabled and elderly, is completely ridiculous as a chain restaurant with often long wait times. It’s an inconsiderate omission from...
Read moreI chose to pick up some food from this location after having spent over a week at the hospital so I can enjoy some decent food. Not only did the customer service at the pick up window leave something to be desired; the cashier in charge of manning the station was no were to be found and when their coworker called them on their cell phone to let them know they had a customer she left the window wide open for my husband and I to hear them cursing at one another and calling eachother duragatory names. Once the cashier did show up majority of the time she took my order the cook was near by 86ing several of the staple items, however they failed to mention that they were also out of their famous rolls which I was charged nearly 10 dollars for. When I got back up to the window to pick up my food is when she finally disclosed this formation and promised me that I would get a partial refund for them since there was clearly no substitute. At this point I was already skeptical on the quality of the food due to this experience and the sever lack of care the cook was expressing thus far. I was trying to be optimistic and give them the benefit of the doubt since it was late in the evening and they did still have customers in the dinning area. However, my concerned were extremely valid once I got my food and went home to eat. The steak was utterly undercooked, as if they seared and plated it. When I called in and spoke with a manager regarding the situation she promised a refund and apologized for the experience. However I never received that refund. I was even called back to confirm it was being processed through the proper system by a manager named Gage. After waiting longer than the time I was told it would take to process and still not receiving any sort of refund (not even the partial one for the buscuits) I called back in and spoke with Gage once again. He looked it up while on the line with me and said it never processed and that he would correct it right away. Only to call me back right as the location was closing that night to very rudely tell me "it went threw the day after I called in initially and to call my bank." Which I did however they were unable to find any identifiers of the refund in thier system nor could they process a charge back due to Gage never offering or giving a receipt with intent to file the refund. My guess if that they never intended to give me the refund in the cfirst place, and the way that Gage spoke to me the last time was extremely unprofessional and made me not want to ever go back which is sad because I've always been a loyal patron of...
