NCL Jewel docks exclusively at AJ Dock while in Juneau. This dock is furthest from the city, at the site of the old mining plant. There are many free shuttles going to and from this docking area to town. Some are dedicated to the Jewel because its farther out. The two-mile walk has one long hill and takes about 30-35 minutes. The walk has a sidewalk and runs beside S. Franklin St. and into an industrial area, so there is traffic. This terminal was only surpassed by Ward Cove (barely) for how bad it is. The tour group employees were not orginize and didn't know which busses went to what tours and were constantly putting people on the wrong busses. Read moreThe dock is very large. It costs 5.00 to take the shuttle back and forth into town. The downtown is a mile away if you want to walk it. Whomever runs the shuttle service may want to consider putting a shelter over their waiting line. It was pouring rain the day we got there, and standing in line was miserable. I gave up and went back to the ship.
