We came here last year and knew we had to return again this year because it was so good! Be aware that the line is always long. When we got off the ship around 10am, the line was super long. As we passed by on our shuttle to our excursion a couple hours later it was still just as long, and when we showed up around 3pm it was still the same length. Therefore no matter what time of day you go, be prepared for a long line. From getting in line to receiving our food was 50 minutes total. It was about 40 minutes in line and about 10 minutes waiting at the table. There is a variety of options on the menu but we go with the crab shack combo with Dungeness crab. It is so good! It also comes with buttered rolls, crab bisque, and crab cakes which are the best crab cakes we have had. The crab is a generous portion it is basically 4 legs and a claw with half a body for each person (basically one entire Dungeness crab) so it is very sharable and it is a good bang for your buck with this. The Dungeness crab is in season all year round and fished locally. The King crab is frozen and brought in so keep that in mind when ordering. It is a popular place so just budget out some time in your day. Highly recommend as it is a big winner amongst our party.
I found this restaurant while I was searching online for things to do in Juneau while docked for a cruise. It came highly recommended. When we got off the ship, the line was crazy long at peak lunch time. We walked around the town first and then came back at off lunch time around 2-3pm. The place was still bustling, but the line was significantly shorter. When we got in line an employee informed us that the wait time from placing your order is about 30 minutes until you get your food. He was also there to answer any questions about the menu, as they had laminated menus available to look at while in line. While waiting you can see the crab pots and the employees placing the crab in, it was cool to see. They have indoor and outdoor seating. When your order is ready, someone will walk around and call out your name to deliver to your table. They do have a bar that you can order from separately, and they have a small shop as well. Our order came within 20 minutes so that was great! We ordered the combo special that came with crab, crab cakes, crab bisque, and rolls. It was perfect for 2 people. I had read online that king crab is in season in the winter, so the king crab that you order will be frozen, not fresh. I also read that the Dungeness crab is in season all year round, so that will be fresh. I asked the employees if the crab they get is local and they said they get the crab from a place just down the dock, so they are pretty sure, but can’t confirm as they don’t know where the actual crab is from. We used the rolls to dip in the crab bisque, it was so good. The crab cakes went so quick as they were perfectly fried and flavorful. The crab though was the best part as we feel we got a generous portion. The meat tasted fresh, was moist, and tender. They did give you some butter to dip as well if you like. There was a sign saying that the price of crab has gone up so they have to raise their prices as well. This is also why we went with the Dungeness crab, as it was one of the cheaper options. However we were thoroughly satisfied with our choice as we really enjoyed our entire meal. I would highly recommend this as a stop, even if you only want a snack, try the crab cakes! Many people were ordering huge buckets of king crab and they all said it was worth it, so it’s really up to you! It was a great fresh crab meal for us before returning to the...
Read moreLet me just start by saying, if you’ve never had truly fresh crab, you’re missing out on one of life's greatest pleasures. My wife and I, being seasoned crab lovers (thanks to the recent crab boil craze that’s swept the Midwest), thought we knew good crab. Turns out, we didn’t. Tracy’s King Crab Shack in Juneau just reset the bar for us—and then some.
We arrived in Juneau on the Radiance of the Seas, but due to another ship docking downtown, we ended up about a mile away. Not a terrible walk, but after stuffing ourselves with crab and doing some shopping, we wisely chose to take the shuttle back to the ship!
When we got to Tracy’s, the line was already snaking its way out the door. Don’t let that deter you though—this place is a well-oiled machine. It took us about 30 minutes to order, which flew by because the line moves quickly, and you can review the menu as you wait. When you finally get to the front, the ordering process is simple: pay, give your name and where you're from (always fun to hear other folks do the same), and then grab a seat. The seating is communal, so you might make some new friends while you wait.
And speaking of waiting—it wasn’t long! Our food came out fresh, piping hot, and absolutely to die for in just 5-10 minutes. My wife ordered the snow crab, I opted for the Dungeness, and we both got the #1 combo, which includes 14 ounces of crab, a cup of luscious crab bisque, three mini crab cakes, and rolls. Everything was excellent, but let me tell you, that crab bisque? Next level.
The crab here is the real deal—so fresh, you could practically taste the Alaskan waters. Tracy’s doesn’t mess around with fancy seasoning or exotic spices because the crab doesn’t need it. It’s prepared simply, letting the natural sweetness and tenderness of the crab speak for itself. If you’ve never had crab this fresh, you’re in for a revelation.
And while we could’ve shared a meal (because portions are generous), let’s be honest—we’re not quitters. Every bite was worth it, and we left Tracy’s completely satisfied (and perhaps a little smug for having discovered what true crab heaven tastes like).
If you ever find yourself in Juneau, do yourself a favor: skip the fancy restaurants, head to Tracy’s, and experience what authentic Alaskan crab should taste like. Trust me, you...

My friend and I are in town for the weekend and really wanted crab legs! We went to Tracy's and was not disappointed.
Before walking in we were greeted by the cook (crab boiler?) Who was tending to the pots. When we walked in we were greeted by the cashier (assumingly Tracy) who directed us to the menu on the wall. Unfamiliar with the process, we asked if we had to order, take a seat, then our food would be brought to us. The cashier confirmed that was the process. When we ordered, they took our name and where we were from to identify us. She also explained that there was a special that was not yet listed on the menu. It was a #1 - a king crab leg with 4 crab cakes, crab bisque, and a roll (I call it a "regular" roll since it was not made from crabs). That cost $55. Since we wanted to try everything she mentioned, we each bought that special.
Listen, EVERYTHING was delicious. The crab leg was perfectly made and even the sauce that came with the crab cakes was delicious! I did not think I would be satisfied with the order but, before I was even finished with my meal, I was stuffed!
Another employee who was cleaning tables was super friendly. I asked her about the nearby Tram and she was able to give me a brief history lesson and information about the Tram and surrounding area.
The bar and store area also had friendly staff however they weren't too familiar with the store items; they had to call someone to ask about prices of some items. I tried the cranberry flavored beer and although it was good (a bit tart), I opted for the Alaskan Amber.
Overall though, it was a great experience at Tracy's and I was pleased with my crab; they primary reason...
