My wife got a haircut and balayage coloring. She came home crying. She already had such beautiful hair to begin with but she wanted something new and fun. Her front hair strands (about a finger-pinch worth) were very bright blonde compared to her brown hair and went all they way up to her hair root..maybe a half inch shy of her forehead. There were a few strands under all her hair that had some highlighting, but these were only visible up in a pony-tail. They were streaky and went too close to the root. It made her look like an old lady but instead of random grey streaks, they looked somewhat blonde. Aside from that with her hair down, besides those two thin streaks of blonde along her face, all of her hair looked exactly the same. We really tried to see if we could see any change at all, especially for nearly $250, but like another review stated, there was no color change. If she hadn't turned around and I walked up behind her, I'd never know she had anything done to her hair. There was also random dot of blonde...maybe that was for a cool "leopard" effect. All the 5-star reviews convinced her to go here but unfortunately it was just a lot of excess hype. One might assume maybe my wife doesn't have the type of hair that is easily colored, but she had an ombre coloring that looked fantastic a year earlier, and surprisingly, we were living in a very expensive area on the east coast at the time and the haircut and hair-coloring were much less.
I would have given this a one-star, but they were kind of enough to try to fix it. Unfortunately, it looked exactly the same when she came home, after the fix. I don't understand...she brought a picture and said "I want that". It's blatantly obvious her hair looked nothing like the photo. She mentioned she had a Level 5 stylist and that there are 6 levels, so her stylist should have been awesome. I completely respect the hard work that stylists probably must undergo to reach those levels but if you pay for Level 5 work, you should get some sort of quality, even if it's not super awesome. I guess I figured someone with that experience would take more pride in their work, and not allow why wife to leave the salon until the job was done right. An amateur like me shouldn't be able to critique that level of skill, let alone question if any hair coloring even occurred.
Although I feel worse for my wife cause she's got to deal with her hair til it grows out and she can fix it, I also feel like we got ripped off. We paid for all that color and I don't see any except for a few poorly placed streaks. I've never done hair-coloring and I feel like I could do a better job after watching a youtube video...not to say that I'm good...but it was just that...
Read moreI was running late to my appointment due to the holiday traffic. I called twice and left a voicemail but didn’t get a call back, only a text when I was walking into the salon stating I was too late. When I arrived, the assistant at the front desk told me I could no longer get my bangs trimmed by the stylist I had scheduled my appointment with. I was trying to work with the receptionist to see if another stylist was available or if there was another time this weekend/week that I could reschedule, which turned out to be much more straining than you’d think. Finally, the receptionist went to ask another stylist if she was available to trim my bangs and LUCKILY FOR ME, she was! The gracious stylist didn’t really trim much, but it felt a bit more fresh than when I walked in. I bought myself a product for some retail therapy to help me deal with the attitude I got from the receptionist just 10 minutes prior, after taking off early from work and driving over an hour to get to the salon. Then, kindly faced the lady to pay for my service. Overall, I was in and out in about 25 minutes; 5 minutes of bickering, 10 minutes for my services, and 10 minutes to pay and schedule my next appointment. I was grateful for Erin, the kind stylist, for her time and energy and willingness to help a sister out. I’ve been a loyal customer of Lumine for 2-3 years now. When I first started, my stylist would have 3 other appointments during my appointment and I was always understanding and encouraging of their hustle. MAKE THAT MONEY! The salon has since, changed their booking policies and stopped double-booking, which I can appreciate for the client’s behalf and the stylist’s (can you imagine how sore your shoulders would be after 4 services in just a 2-3 hour window?! Oof!) With that being said, I feel like the salon is less personable with their clients and the attitude from the receptionist today was really off-putting. The receptionist continued her mockery by stating there was a note on my account regarding a no-call-no-show in the past so I’ll be charged the full price in the future if the situation repeated itself and a stylist wasn’t available. Like, wow. Thank you for making me feel like a scumbag lady. I started to explain that I had called to cancel an appointment in the past, but I could tell by the receptionist’s facial expression that she gave no f—ks. Chalk it up to her having a lousy day or maybe a negative interaction before I arrived, but it really left me feeling heavy and gross. You would think that in a place of business fueled by women, their staff would be more empowering to other women, rather than judgy and condescending when life happens. Anyway, a big thanks to Erin for stepping in to...
Read moreI had my hair done the first week of December. I have short, bleached blonde hair with some deep purple accents. I came in to have my roots touched up and a cut. Well, the work was done in such a sloppy manner that the bleached was placed all over the purple sections which turned them orange. I had bleached hair that was both yellow and orange. When I stated that it looked very orange and yellow, the response was, oh it' just the lighting in here! What! If you're a salon you'd better get your lighting right, because if it looks bad in there, it looks worse outside! That's not the worse part, as soon as I saw it out side, it was worse, so I immediately phoned and was told the stylist would call me back. She didn't. Then my daughter took a picture of my hair to show me just how bad it was, and I drove back immediately. The stylist took no responsibility at all, and tried to blame it on the person who cut it. Then I showed her the picture and asked, does that look like good hair to you? She replied no. Then I told her that it was my hair, and the result of the work she had just done. So, she said I'd have to make an appointment to re-do my hair. Which was going to be almost a week! It's pretty bad when you walk in loving your hair and walk out hating it! Anyway, I had to live with absolute terrible hair until I went back. But, the worst thing about this story, is when I did go back, she charged me more money to fix what she have messed up! Absolutely unacceptable! Will NEVER go back and will not recommend Vincent & Greer to anyone. It's pretty sad when you can go to Paul Mitchell Beaty School and get a better job then an established beauty salon. All I can say about Vincent & Greer is that they're sloppy and care more about talking to each other than the client sitting in the chair paying...
