The exception is when you roll in with just a photo of Elvis from the 60s and say I want to look like this: with those vague instructions you're setting them up for failure.

If you go somewhere it's nice to know the guy knows what he's doing. If he does, instead of trying to demo your technical knowledge on grooming, be quiet and see if you can catch them say anything wrong (or learn a thing or 2 from them), to gauge the extent of their knowledge and services you should ask for.

You will be EXTREMELY lucky if you find someone who can make suggestions that are based off your desires and are open to being told "no." These places don't exist.

Worst place to get a haircut I took my son there cause I couldn’t find another place, this guy looked as if he was in a hurry cutting my son’s hair in like 10 min he had a nice long cool hair and we asked just to trim it and give it volume and he just ended up looking like a mushroom head, didn’t care about catching his name cause I don’t plan on going back. “Professional hair salon” really???
