UPDATE: I decided to go back again, which was always the plan since the food is unbelievable (best in Katy for sure). Met the owner's wife and had a great conversation with her! Exactly what I was expecting the first time around. Super dignified and respectful. I will leave the details of the conversation out but long story short, she agreed that the previous visit wasn't a good experience for a customer, especially a regular customer. When she saw we were ordering our regular choices, she suggested a different appetizer (samosa chat) and a different chicken entree (kadai chicken). And as always, her suggestions were awesome! We still haven't had anything here that we have not liked. As always, highly recommend the food here. Am super happy that we are back to good experiences here!
UPDATE: I am not sure what happened, may be the owner was having a bad day or something, but he didn't do the substitutions that we always used to get. May be a change in policy? Nope. He says in his 3.5 years, he has never done that. I have a bigger issue with the denial than not getting the substitution. So not sure if his employees used to do that behind his back or the policy changed recently (which he denied BTW). And he seemed rude too, not sure why. They used to be very welcoming, used to remember me by name and then suddenly this behavior. It's sad because the food is really good and I want this to be my go to place for Indian food but bad customer service is something I cannot stand. So updating my review from 5 to 3 just for bad customer service. Hopefully this will change and they will go back to how it was in the past. I will be the happiest one to change my review back to 5 stars.
A great place for Indian food in Katy! There aren't many Indian places here (which is a big surprise for me given the Indian population here), but even if there would have been, Kurry Walah would have topped it! We wanted to try as many dishes as possible since it was our first time, so we ordered the thali, which is kind of a sampler for two (I think it would have worked even for 3 people, the portions were that generous). We ordered a lacha parantha on the side and boy, it was awesome! The masala chai was strong (in a good way), good to keep me awake for some time! The service was great too and the ambience is cozy. Honestly, cannot think of any reason to deduct even 1 star. Highly recommend this place (coming...
Read moreWe just tried their new place at 12712 Grant Rd. but it's not on Google Maps yet. We lived in Asia for 15 years so we were lucky to have tried Indian food from every corner of the Indian continent. We have always been disappointed in the poor selection of good Indian food in Houston so it was good to find one finally that is actually quite good. There was a hiccup in their online ordering process so we ended up waiting about 10 mins for our carry-out meal. As they were new to us we decided to order the non-veg dinner for two as it would give us a chance to sample a few different dishes. We got 4 small containers of the main course which was more than enough for 2 people. We got Samosa's, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Curry, Saag Paneer, Navratna Korma, Basmati Rice, two naan bread, Raita and a rice pudding dessert along with some condiments. The Samosa was crisp on the outside and very tasty inside. As it should be. The chicken and lamb were tasty and tender. The lamb at other places we ave tried has been very tough and chewy so this lamb was as if it had come from a good Indian restaurant in Singapore. The Saag was very creamy and the Navratna had a good blend of flavors with crunchy cauliflower. The Basmati rice was light and fluffy which made my wife very jealous as hers never comes out that way. I've never liked plain naan so the next time I will pay a little extra for garlic naan or Peshawari naan. The rice pudding with it's slightly tangy fruit sauce brought back long forgotten memories and was a great way to finish a lovely meal. Only one very slight complaint. The lids on the plastic containers are difficult to get off. That's good so the contents don't spill on the way home but.....it made a bit of a mess on the counter top as you have to tightly grip the container to pry off the lid. You have been warned! Just go slow and easy and don't open them on a good table cloth or delicate surface. Looking forward to our next visit to sample more of Kurry...
Read moreIf I could I would give a zero for customer service , attentive to special requests and extremely rude demeanor and the owners attitude who btw I know on a personal level , the first time they messed up the order and we remained quiet , second time we specifically mentioned that everything has to be mild but the receipt shows they forgot , then after burning our taste buds with the paneer tikka instead of fixing it they just dumped a bunch of tomato sauce in it , the bhindi masala was not cooked and they served raw bhindi! We still would let that pass and remained courteous however the owner who was not even there dares to send a text msg and then when I called Him politely to explain about it started talking in a very disrespectful manner the kind that's from the lowest class in India ! This is not how you treat a paying customer mind you we have never asked for any discounts based on friendships... so Until now I was not going to dispute the charges however seeing their response to Vinay I will! Also be sure we go to plenty restaurants including Nirmanz , Shiv sagar , Alings , Fadis , Olive Garden , Mahek to name a few and I never had any issues so yes we had already decided when we left the restaurant that we were never coming back so Deepak your text came a little late . Suggesting this place to fix their attitude is a waste of time , energy and money ! Also no need to respond if you have any class left and you...
