ATMOSPHERE: The Hanalei Center is now what was once the Old Hanalei School, so the layout is as such, with shops and businesses taking the spots of former classrooms. Being an old-style Hawaii school, it's a single level concrete building raised a few steps up from the Earth and solid as a rock. I'm not exactly sure where the property ends as there was no boundary line, but several newer buildings were added and blended within the property, adding even more shops and restaurants. Facing the property, parking is to the left on a gravel lot.
The tenant list was a mix of surf and clothing shops, a few eateries including the Hanalei Gourmet restaurant and an art gallery. There are several covered picnic tables on the lawn fronting the property.
TIP: Park somewhere and walk around the town. While it's not 100% pedestrian friendly, the town is small enough to see on foot and you won't have to constantly look for parking.

Read moreGreat location in the center of Hanalei with sufficient parking available. A good mix of restaurants and shops, offering a wide variety of goods, including a market.
We visited here many times in June to mostly light to moderate crowds with the occasional long waits for some of the restaurants like the Hanalei Bread company.
Bathrooms were in good shape and easy to access near the center of the shopping center.
