Worst experience ordering food in my lifetime. Would give this zero stars if I could. Staff was dishonest, wait time was insane, and the pizza tasted like cardboard.

ORDERING & WAIT TIME [1/5] -- We went to place an order in person for takeout. We first stopped by at 5:30pm and were told to come back in 30min since they were supporting a large amount of orders for a party. We came back at 6:00pm, placed an order, paid for the food, and were told that our food should be ready in 30min. We came back again at 6:30pm, and were told it would just be another 20min. We came back again at 7:00pm and were again told another 20min. We waited outside the shop until 9:00pm before our order was finally ready (having asked twice more and received responses of "there's just one more order ahead of yours" and "should only be 5 more minutes", both of which were untruthful). Overall we waited 3 hours after ordering for 2 pizzas and 1 cheese bread. There were 5 other groups also waiting along with us for several hours who expressed equal visible frustrations.

TASTE [1/5] -- Once we finally got our food, the disappointment continued. Both pizzas (a cheese and a Neapolitan) tasted like cardboard and were burnt, and the cheese bread seemed to be a slice of Swiss cheese melted over barely cooked bread. Some of the worst pizza I have eaten.

PRICE [2/5] -- Relative to other food and pizza in the area, the price is pretty comparative if not slightly higher at Hanalei Pizza Shop. But the price to value ratio is totally garbage.

OVERALL [1/5] -- the fact that we were repeatedly lied to about the estimate for when our food would be ready was appalling. I would have been quite appreciative of a "we can't take your order today come back tomorrow" at any point in the process. I think this is beyond rude and am not sure why this place can stay in business. I see many other reviews indicating customers have experienced the same.

I hope anyone looking to eat here can see this review and spare themselves from a terrible night...

My daughter and I will occasionally drive from Kapaa area to share a pizza. We call ahead of time to avoid waiting. Tonight I called and was put on hold for 10 minutes to eventually get hung up on. So I called back was asked to be put on hold again , waited patiently to eventually get hung up on again. By this time I am in the pizza shop watching these 2 guys in action. I almost felt as though I was burdensome. No hello no aloha. I kept my mouth shut and didn’t mention phone etiquette. The thing is not much was going on, a couple of pizzas being cut and a young man waiting for his pizza, that’s all I saw. The kid behind the counter looked pretty spun out, having a hard time managing what little was in front of him and his buddy in the back seemed to be having the same trouble. Either their sales were through the roof and I was naïve to the volume of business that was going on under my nose or the new owners should take a serious interest on how their business is being run in there absence. Bottom line is my daughter and I were pretty bummed out and left the chaotic scene. If worse comes to worse throw a few cameras in there and you could stream a reality show...
