Free, self guided tour. Take a half-hour minum to read his story. Only 1 piece of furniture is original (high chair). Go upstairs, next to the chimney is a false floor where JC put his days receipts until the bank opened the next morning. There is no indication marking it. Also, on display (those who remember) a "Lansom tube" that could carry small items to different locations within the store. Or across a street. Unknown what they used it for. Probably change.

This place is a gem. I happened to stumble across the J C Penny house while on a road trip on June 1, which is evidently the first day it opens for the summer season. I was given a tour by Jeanae and Jenelle and it was very informative and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend anyone passing through to carve out some time to visit the house and JC Penny store just around the corner. It will be time well spent.

This is a small free museum. The young lady did a great job of providing the tour. It is a small house, so it only takes about 15 minutes, but it is worth it. Before going I read about Penney on the internet. It is amazing what he accomplished in his life.

We are from out of town and decided to take a trip up to visit this little historic museum. Lilly was our tour guide and let me tell you… She did a phenomenal job educating us. I was impressed by her manners and respect for the building and the people. You could really tell she had true passion for this little piece of history! She was kind and attentive and it is really what made the whole experience for my family and I. I will definitely be telling others to visit! Thank you for...
