We have dined here a few times and always enjoyed it. Came here the other day and hubster got an enchilada dish and I got arroz con pollo. The way they prepare the latter is a little different from other Mexican eateries I've been to, they make it with a red sauce instead of leaving the chicken just plain or using a sour-cream based sauce. It was good though; liked the fact that it had broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms in it. Gotta get those veggies! Also appreciated that their tap water is apparently filtered; Kemmerer's water gets to tasting pretty nasty toward the end of summer since their water source is a local lake, and their filtration plant has a hard time catching all the moss and sediments when the water level gets down low. When we were there, a representative from another business came in because he had a customer on the line who only spoke Spanish and he couldn't communicate with him. The lady on duty at El Jaliciense helped interpret and get both parties on the same page. My only beef is that they could keep their parking lot a little cleaner. Saw some broken glass and stuff like that that should have been swept up. Otherwise, we'd dine here again, no problem.

This is a small restaurant with a small seating area. We shared the Grande #2 ( chimichanga and burrito) and it was plenty for two people. All of the food was good but a little bland ( and I’m not a spicy food fan). The waitress was busy with her activities ( sitting with one customer) and seeping instead of paying attention to customers. We waited for our check (never came- the waitress was still sitting with her friend). I went up to the register and the cook got my check and walked away, I had to call him back to pay cash, I guess it’s a self checkout situation?? Then I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, it’s outside and probably one of the smallest bathrooms I have ever been in. I liked this place more than my husband, but if you set your expectations low you should have a good meal. The restaurant and restrooms were moderately clean.

Update 8/20/25 We've been there twice in the past week on our travels to/from the PNW. Food was still excellent. We had a Fajita Chicken Salad and Steak Picoso. Will definitely eat there if we are fortunate enough to make another long road trip. I just posted a photo of the steak picoso, which BTW lived up to "spicy"! 2023: Excellent food, reasonably priced. Small, cozy dining room. We eat there every time we go to Kemmerer. Covid kept us home for 4 years, but we were glad El Jaliciense was still in business and the food was still great. I had Molcajete this time and Steak Picosa the week before. Both were excellent. My wife had a Chicken Fajita salad both times and enjoyed both.

Been out of town for a few weeks now. Went through NM, then to Sacramento, CA. Now I'm here in Kemmerer, WY. I haven't had a great meal in weeks. Finally I've been baptized by goodness. This place was great mexican comfort food. 100% authentic. I highly recommend El Jaliciense for that fix of great mexican cuisine. I tried the chicken enchiladas de creama, these are hard to find on any Mexican menu. I jumped on the opportunity to have these. They did not fail me. Awesome! Sour cream mixed with Parmigian cheese smothered over the enchiladas. The Rice was cooked to perfection and the beans had a great taste. Try them if you've never had them. I also ordered the chimichanga chicken taquitos, Sabor! Great appetizer. Well people I hope you take my word for it and give this spot a try. This is highly recommended by me. a latino from southern California where the Mexican food is hard to beat. ...

Who would have thought we'd find such a great Mexican restaurant in Kemmerer Wyoming! El Jaliciense is not fancy; it only has about eight tables, and the small restrooms are out on the side of the building. I almost felt like I was in Mexico, where the staff were clearly from. It was definitely authentic; they had a surprisingly big menu and offered about 12 flavors of Jarritos soda. But I was amazed at the freshness and quality of the food. I had the chicken taquito appetizer which had generous portions of chicken and melted cheese wrapped in a crisp, flaky shell. The salsa was perfect, and the tortilla chips were fresh, crisp, and warm. The portions were generous, as expected, and we had to take the rest with us, but we still had to have the fried ice cream, which was delightful. Yep, for great Mexican food, this place is worth a trip to...
