Young Actors Playhouse — Attraction in Kennesaw

Though I was only with YAP for a year it was a wonderful experience full of growth and leadership opportunities. Don can come across as harsh during rehearsals, but only with the oldest of students who he wants and believes will be successful in the business and is very patient with the younger kids and teaches them very well. Meredith and Alex are both wonderfully talented performers and will make you smile no matter how hard of a day you’ve had. Mr. Greg is the sweetest soul and always offers the best hugs ever.

I without a doubt enjoyed my time during Frozen and helping with The Jungle Book, and even though Bring It On was difficult without a libretto I was able to become a much more well rounded artist as I received a lot of dance training and was given a leadership role as a section leader.

I would highly recommend giving YAP a chance no matter what reviews say as there are opportunities for every age. Everyone has their own needs as growing artists and you don’t know what fits until you try...

Kids love being in the shows. Picks good shows, songs. The kids learn a lot about confidence and the arts.

The sound mixing at his elementary school shows is always terrible. I’ve seen seven shows over the years, some kids are amplified to unintelligible, deafening levels, while some kids are barely a whisper. This happens no matter the venue, so it can’t be the equipment. Get on your game!

A couple other notes. He loves to schedule shows on Mother’s Day weekend. He loves to schedule tech rehearsals far from the kids normal school , and at rush hour to boot. My daughter just started performing with Young Actor’s Playhouse and she has truly found her niche. Her eyes light up on her way to rehearsal and she is even more energized when I pick her up from practice. Currently she is attending rehearsals or classes 5 days per week and she just loves it.
