Makers' Mercantile — Attraction in Kent

If I could give this store 10 stars, I would! My friend and I found out about this shop by word of mouth and when we pulled in, we knew it was going to be amazing!

We were greeted by Kim when we walked in. She was wearing a very intricate Halloween cowl she knitted! We let her know it was our first time in and She gave us a verbal tour of the store so we could get to exploring right away. She was so helpful, checking with us to see if we were finding everything alright.

I like fiber art and crafts and my friend likes quilting and applique. This store's inventory was designed to fit both of our interests! There are notions, knitting needles in may sizes, gifts, buttons, a giant clearance room, ribbon, roving, yarn, fabric, patterns for fiber art and sewing, and much more.

They also have a large space that doesn't feel cramped. Two different knitting groups were meeting in different spaces. They also have an industrial kitchen They use to dye fabric. Offered as well is a knitting project of the month club.

I bought materials to experiment with Shibori ribbon. I also picked up iridescent thread to mix in my roving at home.

If you are new to fiber art and sewing or have expert experience with these mediums, I highly recommend...

This place is great if you are a crafter! They have roving for wool felting and spinning, they have needles and hooks! They have yarn galore and even some fabrics there too :) Even some embroidery sets!!! They really try to welcome all and everyone we talked to in the shop was fantastic and made us feel welcome and helped with all our questions - best customer service experience ever!! :D They also have a dedicated lounge to knit or crochet or whatever. The bakery is great too - my hubby and I really enjoyed the macaroons and Riley is awesome - you can tell she really has a passion for the things she makes - Everyone there has passion though - this place is beyond special and I will be...

I felt like a young child walking into a candy store! The colors and displays are so inviting and when you start to explore the choices are never ending. The selection of yarns is beautiful, wonderful quality and so many colors. The button room is amazing - I could easily have spent hours just looking. And there are an array of fabrics, notions, patterns, tools, books, specialist fabric dyes and inks - all sorts of things to keep your hands busy!
