Some of the best sushi I've had to date. Sushi is one of my favorite foods to eat, though I generally hit up conveyer belts (which aren't bad, but sometimes not so fresh).
The gal who took my order was really sweet and the sushi chefs greeted me with smiles as well. I sat at the bar so I could be closer to the action... or something.
I ordered the 'French Kiss' roll (their rolls come with miso soup and side salad, both are tasty). The roll has salmon, tuna, shrimp tempura, cream cheese, ... and I think a little krab salad? It's topped with 2 sauces (i believe Japanese mayo and... I am forgetting the name of it. Its akin to what goes on takoyaki) and crispy noodles (very thin). This roll is INCREDIBLE. I thought that the fish might get smushed together and be one texture but you can identify all the items in the roll as you eat it. The salmon and tuna are extremely fresh, the ratio of ingredients is perfectly balanced, and the sauce doesnt overwhelm it. Absolutely delicious!
I also got 2 salmon nigiri and 1 mackerel nigiri. The salmon nigiri had HUGE slices of fish, it had a great texture and their sushi rice has just enough rice vinegar. The mackerel was interesting! I ordered it because I'd never had it. It was really pretty. There was a slice of ginger on it, very thin, and I figured I should eat it with it. It was kind of weird! The texture was awesome, very meaty and dense in comparison to some other fish. I honestly think I just didnt like too much ginger and I'd be willing to try it again. I know that it's no fault of their own, they made it impeccably, sometimes we just dont super dig something new!
The price is also really good. The roll, which was HUGGGEEE and came with soup and salad, was about $10.95. Each of the nigiri were $2.25, which for the quality and amount of fish you get, is totally worth it.

Read moreI got takeout on Saturday night that included a bento order with tonkatsu. The katsu was chewy. We assumed it was just overcooked until 3/4's of the way through some plastic film came out from underneath the breading. We inspected the rest of the katsu and it looked like the entire thing was covered in plastic, so we'd already eaten most of it.
My partner threw up; at this point we had already eaten a lot of the other food, which included another bento box and two sushi rolls. I called the restaurant to report, and at no point did the employee, A*e, sound shocked or concerned that they had just served an entire fillet wrapped in plastic.
Honestly it felt like she either didn't recognize this as a disgusting health concern or didn't believe me (she didn't even want to see the photos/video I took of me peeling the film out of the katsu). So it's no wonder that she only offered a refund on the bento box. I tried to respond and she talked over me for a solid 10 seconds.
She did eventually offer a full refund, but this was an incredibly frustrating experience. I want to emphasize that this is a one-off experience and not a complaint of the...
Read moreWhen we walked in we first noted the incredibly professional atmosphere and environment. We were greeted by friendly and kind staff. The menus themselves were high quality and every option sounded fantastic. Our party of four enjoyed the gyoza appetizer, as well as the miso soup to start. Two in our party got bento combo boxes that they thoroughly enjoyed and each rated the food personally a 5/5 noting the taste of the teriyaki, tenderness of the chicken, while the chicken katsu was fresh, flavor, and crunchy. The spicy chicken teriyaki had a wonderful char and the onions it was cooked with infused it with a fantastic taste. Additionally the dressing on the salad was sweet and tangy providing a refreshing element from the spicy teriyaki. Without comparing it to the nearby competition we would all highly recommend...
