Battery Adair — Attraction in Key West

US forts made out of wood were attacked and put on fire by the English navy, so US obtained the fort blueprints from the French. This used to be a three storied fort when built with a three levels of cannons protecting the trade channel.

The fort was used in the Civil War and in WW-1 and WW-2. The fort was occupied by the Union Army during the entire Civil War. It served to blockade the Confederate ports from providing supplies.

Dry Tortuga National Park is not the easiest to get too, but I think it was worth it, i would not do the full day tour unless you like to lay on the beach and sunbathe all day. The grounds were clean and well kept up.

Beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding area.

This is a must stop if you have come this far in Key West.
