This wasn't a planned stop but I'm glad we did. My husband and I were exploring the area and stopped in. We were lucky enough to have the pleasure of speaking with the most knowledgeable and welcoming person at the center and we walked away knowing way more about the coral reefs especially (amongst many other interesting facts about the island). The center was remodeled during quarantine and it is honestly great. This is probably an awesome place for kids even though we didn't bring ours. The leader of the center would have been super interactive and exciting for any kid as well as adults. This was a great stop for us and it was really close to the splash pad and fort Zachary beach and the coast guard ship. This was free and parking was also free which was awesome since most...

Our homeschool family visits the keys annually, we have been attempting to visit the center for the past 4 years. However due to their limited hours and days, we were unable to catch it open. Today we were finally able to visit. Our first impression was quant but informational…

UNFORTUNATELY that changed. My daughter sat down with a dry tortugas book to flip through the pages and the female employee told the male employee to watch us to be sure we didn’t take it!!! Really??? How incredibly rude. No one comes into a eco center to steal a book! The male employee continued to watch my daughter until my husband went to hand him the book directly. My husband made sure to inform him that we didn’t want their book. Apparently education isn’t their true interest. Extremely...

The Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center is a fantastic place to visit! This free informational center is packed with interactive displays and tons of fascinating information about coral reefs, local wildlife, and the important work being done to protect and restore these vital ecosystems. It’s amazing to see how the center collaborates with key agencies and programs to drive these efforts.

Walking through the exhibits was an engaging and educational experience, with plenty of cool displays to explore. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or just curious about the underwater world, this center offers a wonderful opportunity to learn and be inspired. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re...

Vacationing in the Florida Keys can get really expensive very quickly. We try and do alot of beaches and outdoor activities to stay in budget and this little gem was a great little hidden spot for the kids! The Eco discovery center is completely free and full of hands on learning. You could go to Fort Zachary and see the fort and beautiful beach, visit the discovery center and go to the splash pad and spend less than $10 for an entire day of fun! I highly reccomend adding this to your plans if you are wanting a great family day in Key West.
