8/2/25 Want to ride black magic, website says it's open. I call a week in advance to verify, no one mentions half of it is still closed. Resort is being dishonest, super frustrating. Recommend you call and make sure "upper, middle, lower" black magic is open, or just head somewhere else. Why let the best trail go for 2 months before opening, they waste half the season.
Edit--over weekend at Massanutten Bike Park (where E-bikes aren't looked down upon) see pictures of Alpim carriers used, pay extra attention to the weight rating picture and my E-bike weight on Park bike scale. Killington needs to reevaluate their E-bike policy and not discriminate against any bike just because it's an "E-bike". Get with the times Killington.
Recently over July 4th weekend, after traveling 1000 miles to reach Killington, we had 2 major problems with the resort. 1) Killington Website showed the premier trail "Black Magic" as open and it was in fact closed, still being worked on a month after park opening. Super disappointing that there is no transparency on their website. 2) K-1 Gondola lift turned us away for ebikes even though our ebikes are 39-43 lbs, the same or comparable weight as Downhill bikes that are ALLOWED. Bike carriers on K-1 are Alpim brand rated to 66lbs yet the resort discriminates against ebikes for no apparent reason. I confirmed that ebikes (or any 2-wheeled vehicle) weighing under 66lbs are fine on these carriers directly with Alpim in France.
"Our (Bi Clip and Bi Basic bike) carriers can carry any 2-wheeled vehicle weighing less than 66 pounds. if your electric bike weighs 60 pounds, it's OK
Best regards Sylvie ANTHOINE
Picture is from Bike Carrier's website to confirm Killington uses the same brand and model yet does not take the time to understand that a "normal bike" vs. "ebike" does not matter! Weight restriction is stated, why not follow manufacturer technical specs?? We felt slighted on 2 fronts by the resort, Guest Services told us that "no ebike weighs less than a normal bike", but that is simply not true, DH bikes and many ebikes are well above 40lbs, most e mountain bikes top out at 55lbs, ours at most 43lbs, this makes NO SENSE!
Killington mis-represents their trail status online and discriminates against ebikes, both policies are not only ignorant to reality but also dishonest and we invested a lot of time and money to go there only to see this blatant mis-management of park features, trail status...
Read moreWe came with 3 kids several times. The lift attendant, unlike at some places, are very quick to help them load the bikes!! In general, IMO, the staff here are above average in terms of being friendly and helpful, compared to several other bike parks we've been to.
There are plenty of picnic tables to eat snacks at. This place is surprisingly great for a fun family bike trip, and you can just hike some beautiful trails that are right at the same park for a "cool down lap" after!
The bike park is very big and gives you numerous options. The trails are nice and long, so you don't waste so much time constantly loading your bikes. I think it's worth the price premium. I see several comments comparing Whistler prices -- it's not like you can hop in your car and drive down the road to Whistler as an option, and we Americans embrace our brutal capitalism, so I got a chuckle reading the other comments. :)
One caveat -- beware the self-righteous intermediate adult riders. We are getting into the sport these couple of years, and we go slow on our first run on any trail to learn them. Most riders here are stoked to see the next generation get into this sport and are encouraging of kids doing their best. A few were too fancy-pants to tolerate kids slowing them down on a blue trail though. This is not the fault of the park, and I listed reasons about the park itself that we love, so I am still giving Killington 5 stars and will keep coming back. Unfortunately, a few adult riders who took themselves too seriously on blue trails stood out. I'd understand if we were standing around and blocking the trail; but kids trying to learn a blue and going slow is probably not poor trail...
Read moreTrail are nice but really bad service and for canadian watch out it will cost you 105$ for full day of bike park (even whistler isn’t that much) imagine thinking 2 sec you can charge more than whistler lol and even if you waste almost an hour in line up just to buy your ticket… (should have at least 2 lines one for bikers and one for hiking tourist and half day option) (unman machine for ticket was down) And its not even the worst, we got stuck in the gondola for almost 45 min going to the summit sunday the 4 september because of some « mechanical problem » and they didn’t want to give us refund . At least compensation like a other ticket for another time would have been nice! The bike mechanic at the shop also was a bit bad trying to fix a leaking on the wheel of a friend (he fail getting it fixed) so be prepare if you go there, first buy your ticket online (you will save some dollars) and pack your lunch nothing is cheap there! Killington resort I hope you will read this, but I want to leave positive vibes here thanks to the builder, trail are...
