Asian Market — Attraction in Kingsport

I have been shopping here for over 10 years, ever since they opened. They have wonderful selections, to get almost anything you need for Asian recipes. The prices are indeed high, but what can you do about rare imports? I know this store like the back of my hand, but it can be daunting for someone new to asian cooking, and it's true, the shopkeepers aren't the most helpful. Not even sure why they answer their phone, as when you call to check on the price or availability of items the man isn't helpful at all. The woman who runs the store is very helpful! But the man is the exact opposite.

ETA: I called back later and the woman answered the phone, she helped and told me the price. Just hang up if the man answers....

The Asian Market is, without a doubt, my only go-to market for everything Asian in the Tri-Cities area. As if this place could not get any better, the newly expanded Bubble tea section has me further excited to gleefully take the 45 mile journey from home. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. Case in point: I am a chef and had a question regarding the use of pork bones and the gentleman at the butcher/seafood section instructed me as to the proper use and technique. Lots of selections, but didn't feel comfortable shopping there ever again. I don't take to kindly to being watched. My boyfriend even noticed it also. We'd be down an aisle and the cashier would pop up throughout the shopping visit. I would like to think I don't look like someone who would feel the need to steal from others. Third and last time going there. I liked going there and grabbing some mochi and random stuff for my kids to try, but I won't visit a place where I feel unwelcome for no apparent reason.
