Pottery Hollow — Attraction in Kirkwood

Father and daughter pottery painting day was filled with a peaceful calm while painting as well as chaos being our first time. We waited to be instructed what to do by a host and were informed where the art work was to paint, station full of paint glazed, brushes and the fees for the adults verses children. I asked a worker about methods and was instructed to setup our glazes on plates and bring them along with our supplies/art back to a designated table. A third worked checked on us multiple times as my daughter was having a hard time concentrating with some many colors and children around. Once we cleaned up our table and brought our glazed art up to the counter to pay, we were sadly informed that because we did not do an initial glaze, our glazed art would likely burn and not be safe to eat off of. I asked why the 3 other worked failed to inform me as I told each of them that it was our first time. The only explanation was that they have signs up. When I walked around the store, I did see many signs...1 of them informing people to do the initial glaze. Now I just wait for the call in a week to hear that the projects my daughter and I worked on are burned. Extremely frustrating as a parent who communicated with multiple workers at our experience.

This was my first visit to Pottery Hollow, Kirkwood location. We had a great time, really nice selection of pottery and paints. I thought it was great that we could take our time. You have to leave your items to be fired in the kiln, pick up is fine the next weekend. I didn't run into any problems until I recieved a call that I owed an additional 18.00. Due to two pottery items that both used a similar piece I had mistakenly painted the wrong piece. Nothing was mentioned during painting or at check out. Rather than handle the mistake with good public relations it was clear that I must pay for the entire 2nd item even though I was told they were now separated on the shelf so that others wouldn't make the same mistake. This could have been much better handled by simply acknowledging it was a mistake and that they had taken action to prevent the same problem from occurring. The employee instead was very short and left me thinking I'd rather go to another shop for the same activity. Unfortunate, as a business owner myself I know how hard a business works to bring in...

I see alot of comments of very helpful staff, but me and my daughter an niece had a some what of a different experience. We arrived at 4pm than we where ask If we had visited the place before I said no. Than 20 min go pass without any help of any kind. So I go and ask if we should just go for it still with very little insight on wts next, we where told she would get water cups she did eventually 20min later.. Two other parties came in and I was able to see the nice helpful comments that are in some of your post/comments. If it wasn't for my very artistic daughter and niece we would have left my daughter loves CRAFTING so much I just sat there in disbelief. Never again. Glad my daughter was able to Express herself through Art....
