I've been shopping here for two+ years and I think it's time to switch to a different chain entirely. That's how bad y'all have put me off.
Not only has the quality of employees gone down but also the products. Items are confused and jumbled. There's CONSISTENTLY mold on some of the pizzas.
My wife and I have been turned away by cashiers right after they called out "no wait"
Worst of all today I came in and shopped for an hour just to get to the register and for them to unapologetically say the MVP system is down. I buy the stuff that's on sale or BOGO or buy two get one so that's a big deal for me.
Their MVP system was down and they casually wanted me to pay them extra because THEIR system messed up.
Oh and thanks for wasting an hour of my time. An announcement of the issue at regular intervals or simply someone at the door would have solved the problem.
Obviously I walked out without buying anything but now I have to go to the night shift and I still have no food at my house.
The cashiers and the manager Matthew seemed clueless and apathetic and it's not a good look.
0/10 experience, will likely shop at Lowe's for the remainder of my days.
I came back on December 19th because I'm a fool, but I have a new story to share.
I built an online order with food lion on the go or whatever their pick up service is called and put it in around 7 am. I figured they'd have a hard time messing up an actual list of items, and I gave them till the 2-3 window to get this 200ish dollar order done.
Simple, right?
Well apparently not because they were empty handed when I showed up. So I spent an hour of time in the morning to save time that I needed for the evening, and got literally...
Read more2 stars because it wasn't busy and there was a nice associate one day I visited but I'll never return. I have never enjoyed my shopping experience at this food lion because I almost always get hustled in the parking lot, so I haven't been in a long time, even though it's the closest grocery store to me. Convenience won out this week, and I stopped in and had a positive experience with a kind employee in the deli/bakery area. Unfortunately, I purchased a brand of beer my husband doesn't like, so I went back to return it and was told I could not return alcohol even if it was unopened and I had the receipt. I checked on the food lion website and saw that it was illegal in a few states to do that, but not in NC. I went back in and showed the policy from the food lion website and the 2 ladies standing in customer service were so adamant they were right and refused to try to process a return or exchange; so I left and went to a different food lion where they kindly processed a return for me. (I called several grocery stores to see if they could accept unopened alcohol returns with the receipt; of course they all could). I'll never return to that...
Read moreWay too much tension between customers on entry and existing of store. If the store insists on having this setup which I have no problem with, but knows most of its customers refuse to follow policy then why bother. I was just trying to get something simple and quickly not get caught up in some racial tension between young and old people who have difficulty during this pandemic. What is worse was having to explain to my son as we watched it unfold and why it was even an issue. Way too much hate out there and frankly I have no time to waste wondering if we are gonna get caught in crossfire. So Food Lion, quit having one entry point one exit that no one follows, or based on what I saw yesterday you guys might be on the evening news sooner then...
