If you like to travel well, please save yourself the nightmare. -10 stars.
What was expected to be a fun anniversary trip turned out to be one of the worst hotel experiences ever. - The staff is rude, the cleaning ladies steal, COVID restrictions aren't enforced, & they have MOLD!!
Though the affordable rates and lovely lobby are alluring, the rest of the hotel is simply basic. The hallways are bleek with no decor and large brown room doors similar to what's found in subsidized public housing (the projects). Again, a complete 180 from the lobby decor - weird.
Initially I was booked in a room for those who are handicap - no problem. The room was spacious, TV was huge, the pillows were soft. No major problems until I went to take a shower and was greeted by MOLD!!! Since this was a handicap room there was an actual shower curtain as opposed to the typical glass divider. The MOLD was literally covering the entire inside lining for the shower curtain. I immediately called the front desk and was told THEY COULDN'T REPLACE THE SHOWER CURTAIN, ONLY CLEAN IT. Why would I trust you to clean something thoroughly you haven't been cleaning?? Why can't you replace shower curtains in the handicap rooms?? Why was I met with attitude and told there were no rooms, but after asking to speak with a manager they miraculously found a new room?? My concern is for those who are actually handicap and are being subjected to the poor cleanliness of their rooms.
We changed rooms within 10mins.
Unfortunately while changing rooms, I left my expensive face wash in the bathroom. I was informed that the cleaning staff would have it and to check with them. There was initially a language barrier until a manager intervened. She was seemingly helpful, but the two staff members shortly began giggling as if they knew something - They claimed my face wash was thrown away.. Again, weird.
We left for the afternoon and returned about 5hours later only to be met with a line in the lobby of people waiting to get on the elevator. Yes, you have to wait in line to get on the elevator to get to your room. Not for COVID purposes, but because the hotel has a public rooftop bar but only 2 elevators for the entire hotel. So if you are a paying guest you will ultimately be inconvenienced by the general public getting on the elevator as well.
After 20mins of waiting in line for the elevator, we get to the new room only to be locked out.. Thinking I just needed a new key, I took the stairs back down to the lobby (because the elevator was taking another 10mins at this point).. I was informed that there was a strong smoke smell coming from one of the rooms on our floor and they now had to charge a smoke cleaning fee.. Not sure how this assumption was made seeing how all the rooms are connected jack & jill style, but ours was targeted. We weren't even in the new room for more than 15mins before we left for the entire day. Its odd how after I complain of mold and theft they accuse me of smoking lol.
7yrs of consistent traveling and I've never had a problem using an incense. Especially since it's safer than a candle..But management didn't care to ask/inquire nor did I care to argue as my experience was already poor.
I left the hotel entirely within 20mins and luckily enjoyed my time in Smokey Mountains outside of this horrific hotel. Who knew downtown Knoxville could be made to look so bad and moldy.
Hopefully in the future they gear their energy towards more pressing matters such as mold, rude staff, and...
Read moreThe moon hung high over the grand entrance of the Silverwood Inn, its golden glow reflecting off the polished marble driveway. Noblemen, merchants, and travelers alike arrived in horse-drawn carriages, their fine cloaks swirling as they stepped onto the enchanted cobblestones. But no one not a single soul was greeted with as much grace, speed, and sheer excellence as those fortunate enough to have Great Walker tend to their steeds.
Great Walker was no ordinary valet. Some claimed he had elven blood, others swore he was a sorcerer in disguise. Whatever the truth, one thing was certain: no horse, no carriage, no unruly beast was beyond his skill. He moved like the wind, a blur of elegance and precision. The moment a traveler stepped down, Walker would already be at their side, offering a crisp bow before vanishing with the reins in hand.
One evening, a mysterious hooded rider arrived astride a midnight-black stallion, its eyes glowing faintly like embers. The creature reared back, snorting smoke, its muscles tensed as if ready to tear through the very fabric of reality. The crowd gasped, backing away, whispers of dark magic filling the air.
Walker merely smiled. With a calm hand, he reached forward, touching the beast’s muzzle. In an instant, the stallion stilled, lowering its head in submission. The hooded figure, impressed, stepped down and studied Walker with keen interest.
“Few can handle Shadowbane,” the figure murmured. “You are truly gifted.”
Walker simply shrugged, leading the fearsome beast away as if it were nothing more than a docile pony. Within moments, Shadowbane was stabled, groomed, and comfortably settled as though he had never been a terror at all.
The legend of Great Walker only grew that night, and from then on, even the most stubborn of beasts knew when in Silverwood, there was no valet...

First and most importantly is the security of this hotel is non-existent, people can ride the elevator to any floor with your key. People smelling of sour garbage riding the elevator to the bar. Might as well stay at a super 8, you stay at a hotel for security. My wife and I had to call the front desk multiple times over this each. The card reader does not deactivate after you select a floor allowing anyone to access the hotel on your card.
From the Hyatt on the Bund to Hyatt Gangnam, or Hyatt on the Square in San Fransisco, this location is a stain on the brand. There aren't amenities for guests, you compete with the public. It's one of the most lacking Hyatt hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are clean, the beds are incredibly cheap and uncomfortable. The A/C unit hardly worked and sounded like a snake charmer was in there playing a recorder.
We seemed to be put into an over flow room that was located just above an amazing industrial A/C unit that clearly worked far better than ours in the room, it sounded like a freight train.
Maybe it's because of what's going on in the area, but that is on management to prepare for an event like this and make sure his or her staff are properly supported.
Every issue with this hotel but bedding falls upon the failures of the management. I blame no member of the team, their leader has given up on them and it's customer. This place isn't worth $80 a night, I would say it's the worst sleep I have ever gotten in a hotel, but I didn't sleep at all.
In the end it is just a Hyatt Place, still...
