I attended a couple of UT games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium at the end of April. The PA announcements and music, which are continuous throughout the game, are excruciatingly loud. Using an app on my phone, I measured the peak loudness at 92 dBA and an average loudness in the low 80 dBA. After the first game, I wised up and wore foam ear plugs for hearing protection. I usually listen to the games on the radio and I now know why I can hear music and the PA announcer in the background of the broadcast. I don't get it. The concessions leave something to be desired. The offerings are canned beer, soft drinks, popcorn, pretzels and hot dogs. That's about the same offerings as at the field where my grandson plays baseball, with the exception of the beer. I had a pretzel (stale) and coke (flat). It appears that the UT athletic department puts the minimum amount of effort into concessions. I came to the stadium to experience the games, but given the ball park amenities, I think I will stick to listening to the games on the radio. On the plus side, the seating is very good with good viewing of the game from the most...
Read moreThis season the Diamond Vols were the hottest ticket around. It may not have ended with a trip to Omaha and a championship like Vol fans were dreaming of but alas that is baseball. I had such a great time going even when it was mid 90s and standing room only. Tony Vitello is transforming program before our very eyes much the same way Bruce Pearl. And like Bruce the success is bringing facility upgrades. The stadium will be modernized, seats will be added all the way down the both baselines, new practice facilities, a 3rd level will be added to the patio out behind left field, a porch/viewing area on the 3rd base line, and my favorite thing is the awning they are building so we can...
Read moreBeautiful stadium, but terrible security and worst enforcement of rules and sportsmanship I've ever seen out of a host school in my entire life. Entire sections yelling about players having stds and telling families of players from the visiting team to go the f home. SEC needs to host a sportsmanship seminar here or something, no wonder it's been so long since you guys were allowed to host. Coaches cussing out the umps over every call, fans yelling over calls repeatedly, ridiculous. These guys are here to play, there's no reason to be outright disrespectful. We've been to rivalry games that...
