I have been to Regal Cinemas all over the U.S but this one is like no other right here in Knoxville, TN in the upscale Turkey Creek area. How would I explain my experience in one word? :Wow. It's was a shock and awe moment from the time I walked into the massive front entrance of the building. You would see my mouth drop open when I opened the front doors seeing the tall ceilings wide open courtyard space. To the right you will see a modern open bar that has a selection of menu drinks that you get very well taken care of on the alcohol nothing watered down here that is for sure 😀. I was very please with the taste and quality of the fruity drinks I got. The young man that made the drinks definitely knew what he was doing mixing drinks 🍸. Just left if the bar is this two story stainless steel slide you read that right. Check out the photo I posted it was quite funny even for a grown man sliding down the twist and turns in this stainless steel fun machine bringing back many memories as a kid. I found out at the top of the stairs on the second floor tucked behind the wall and left of the slide was a video arcade game 🕹 area hidden to not take away the grandness of the slide or granduer of the large Fourier of the building. In the middle you will find several touch screen kiosk to purchase tickets 🎟and a friendly staff to help when you might have questions like I did about the 4DX experience. To the left is a smoothie/ snack bar with healthy food options I really liked but was going for the traditional 🍸drink which not all theaters serve, popcorn and candy. Straight ahead is the concession stand where I asked forva large popcorn 🍿 abd got this huge bucket 🪣 that I was never going to finish but maybe 4-6 people could 😅 by myself. It was reasonable priced for what you get. I am off the experience my first ever 4DX experience with the new Snake Eyes action packed movie. What is 4DX ? Well the seats 💺move back and forth up and down, have a rod tip that punches you in your back to simulate punching scenes, sprays water 💧 or mist for 🌧 rain , smells, abd special lighting to make the rain or scenes come more alive. Note: do not get a drink and expect to not spill during this movie the seats move way to much. 😂 I spent more time trying to center my drink in my hand drinking it down in the first opening scenes than I would like too. They sure did start the action out immediately without warning ⚠️ but I guess I got my money worth. 💰 Overall I liked the experience of the 4DX but in a movie over two hours I felt alittle beat up by the chair. This is definitely not a plush comfy chairs that just sit back and relax kind of experience. Overall I really enjoyed the movie, experience of the new exciting 4DX experience, food, drinks, wild slide, and this Regal Cinemas. I told them they must build one in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tell them I sent you I highly recommend this movie 🎥 theater. I got a kick out of the bathroom 🚻 signs which were large pictures of an actors. I thought that was cute. I also noticed how clean the whole place was and well maintained which is nice with all the new cleanliness rules from covid 19. Peace out be safe and happy movie going. Also it wasn't very crowded either so get out and watch a movie...
Read moreI'm confused as to how this theater has such great reviews. I visited this place while I was temporarily in Knoxville last Friday to watch The Conjuring 3 in IMAX (7pm showing), and the projector had 4 dead pixels on it! Two of which were HIGHLY noticeable (top right and middle bottom). I am from a small town where I can buy movie tickets for $6/person. Obviously an IMAX experience is going to cost more, but I was baffled that this place thought they can charge me nearly $50 for two IMAX tickets then display an image with those glaring blue pixels. It was a horror movie, so any time the pixels hit a black background it was glaring. I would say despite the obvious sharper visuals, the overall image was worse here than my local $6 theater due to the dead pixels.
I would have let this go, but when the trailers were on, the image was out of focus for a while. I left the theater for a second, but I was very polite with the gentlemen taking tickets, and told him what was going on. His tone got really rude all of a sudden and he said someone was fixing it. I then apologized and said that I just wanted to make sure they knew and I didn't wanna complain or anything, and he just looked away from me. He didn't thank me for trying to help, or give me any sort of reassurance that my polite message was taken as intended. I could tell my interaction with this guy was misinterpreted.
The last thing I want to say is that I really don't like it when you buy tickets in app and they charge you a "convivence fee". I just saved you money by not having to pay staff to help me. That's like if Walmart self checkout charged you more for checking yourself out. It just doesn't make sense. The fee was $5 which is about what an entire movie costs where I am from. I can't complain too much about that, because hey I paid it. I just felt like due to the assigned seats here, it's way more required than where I am from. I think everyone should ding at least a star for this practice, because otherwise Regal is just going to keep taking advantage.
The reason I give it two stars instead of one is because the sound in this IMAX was absolutely stellar! Probably the best I have heard in my life. If the visuals would have been up to snuff I would have thought this was a good value for money. I kinda regret not just watching the film on HBO Max on the OLED at the place I was staying, as at least then the pixels would have...
Read moreReally debated on how to rate this because I honestly don't know if individual theaters have any say in pricing and pricing is huge here from the ticket to the refreshments.
We have been here twice since moving here and it is a nice theater. It is large which can be concerning for safety but they seem to do a good job with security in the lobby. It would be nice to see security outside where you buy your ticket, as well as an attendant coming through during the movie a few times. Especially for new releases where it is very busy and other patrons dress up in costumes. Also it's a bit confusing to us that you have to purchase your ticket outside, which was an extremely cold wait this past winter.
We saw the newest Star Wars in RPX 3D and Black Panther normal. Besides the 3D of Star Wars we didn't notice much of a different for the RPX, yet the ticket for RPX only is still more expensive. The ticket pricing isn't as frustrating to me as the refreshments, though I feel for those with children who want to just go and see a movie.
The refreshments are outrageously priced and very ill depicted/described. Always ask to see what you are buying if you've never purchased it!! The Cheetos popcorn is awesome but you get so little compared to even the smallest regular popcorn that is similarly priced. We saw the sweet popcorn option and ordered without asking and it is a cone of caramel corn (again small portion). As we all know they sell candy that you typically get for $1 in a box for $3.95, which just sucks. Last time I wanted to splurge and get the frozen yogurt. Luckily they give you a plastic container that they put nachos in, in addition to the frozen yogurt cup because it is a small cup the size of an infants fist.
I've been really wondering if they check bags for outside food or drink or if you can bring your snacks in because the quality and price of the food is just...
