What a great regional museum! (And SUPER friendly staff - I enjoyed our chat!) A room to the right has commerce and business items - like a full-size general store, cars, tractor, fish traps and models, plus some neat native artifacts. A room on the left has more daily-life stuff, like furniture, clothes, and some cool dollhouses. In the back is an exhibit about weddings with examples of wedding gowns through the decades that's a lot of fun. And don't miss the sliding glass door and balcony at the back of this room for a great view! The gift shop has some great selections too with high-quality items for good prices.
The museum is at the top of a hill and away from the rest of the touristy parts of town. There is a small parking lot, so you don't have to worry about street parking or walking...
Read moreThis was such a cool little local museum! Had so much cool history to learn in such a small building, and you could spend a long time seeing all they had to offer! I would absolutely go again and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone visiting this area. Plus, the employee named Janice was AMAZING! She made our experience so much more memorable in every single way. Such a sweet lady. She learned our names and every time she popped over to tell us a little history fact she would call each of us by our names. I was extremely impressed by her service. Both inside and outside the museum (she recognized someone from our group and offered them a ride back to their bed and breakfast that was out of the...
Read moreStunning, heartwarming, colorful exhibit resonating love of family and country. The moment I saw this local artist's exhibit in the Skagit Herald I knew I was planning a "date day" with my husband. I found these paintings so exciting and familiar to Hawaiian artist Yvonne Cheng, yet Mr. Guillen's art is bursting with warmth and color even Ms. Cheng at times struggles to capture. These paintings brought back loads of great memories of the Merida community and the people at the hacienda of Santa Rosa. His family must be so proud and I'm grateful for the folks who allowed their Jesus Guillen art to be shared at the museum. Fantastically...
