We had the most incredible dining experience at La Conner Seafood and Prime Rib, and I cannot recommend this gem highly enough! We were fortunate to snag a table on their dog-friendly waterfront deck, which turned out to be the perfect setting for a memorable meal. We ordered the halibut fish tacos and the macadamia nut crusted halibut, and both dishes were absolutely amazing. The fish was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared (and there was a good amount of fish on each of the 3 tacos). The macadamia nut crust added such a delightful texture and flavor that elevated the halibut.
The service was what I expect when giving 5 stars, from start to finish. We brought our dog, and the staff brought Penny her own dish of fresh water without us even asking - such a thoughtful gesture that shows they truly understand what hospitality means. The staff's attention to detail and genuine care for all their guests (furry ones included!) was evident throughout our visit.
Even though it was in the 80s, the deck was incredibly comfortable, thanks to their abundant umbrellas that kept us cool while we enjoyed the stunning waterfront views. Sitting on what they proudly call "the largest waterfront deck in Skagit County" with views of the Swinomish Channel and Mount Baker in the distance was great! The historic charm of this 100+ year old building, which originally served as Mal's Tavern where fishermen, loggers, and farmers gathered, adds such character to the dining experience.
What makes this place even more special is learning about its rich history. This family-owned and operated restaurant has been serving the Skagit Valley community for over 30 years, and you can feel the love and dedication in every aspect of the experience. Owners have created something truly special here, maintaining the tradition of exceptional service while honoring the building's fascinating past.
Located in historic downtown La Conner on the waterfront, this restaurant is perfectly positioned for anyone visiting the area. The quaint waterfront town setting makes it a top Washington State destination, and this restaurant is definitely a highlight.
La Conner Seafood and Prime Rib delivers on every level - outstanding food, exceptional service, beautiful setting, and genuine hospitality. Whether you're a local or visiting from out of town, whether you have a four-legged companion or not, this restaurant will likely exceed your expectations, too. The combination of fresh, locally-sourced cuisine, stunning waterfront views, and warm, attentive service makes this a must-visit destination.
Highly recommended for: Waterfront dining, dog-friendly atmosphere, fresh seafood, romantic dinners, family meals, special occasions.

Read moreI'd originally planned on taking my wife here for dinner after visiting the tulip fields. Reservations for a table are suspended during the month of April, when the tourist flood reaches peak capacity, so I figured I'd walk in a couple hours ahead, get on the list, and return when it was time. Strangely enough, the place I'd opted to go for lunch had a 35 minute wait, but we were seated here at La Conner Seafood and Prime Rib House in less than 2 minutes. Fine with me! We even scored a fantastic, sunny patio table next to the water!
From start to finish, our server was incredible. I get the feeling she was the owner or manager, as she casually mentioned, when inquired, that all the drinks on the cocktail menu were of her devising. Regardless, she was pleasant, professional, personable and punctual, and always attentive. I really should have noted her name.
Between the two of us, my wife ordered the Dungeness crab cocktail (market price), Seared sea scallops (market price), the fish tacos for myself, a Mint Tulip (clever), and a Rosemary Old Fashioned. The crab cocktail was an unbelievable heap of crustacean and cocktail sauce, and it had better have been, as market price* for this appetizer ended up being around $46! I guess we should have asked what "market price" was for the day, in advance! Good thing it was delicious as hell! Similarly, the two thick-cut, savory, almost steak-like sea scallops came to around $23, a price which, again, is only justified by how incredible they were!
Now the fish tacos, I have no complaint whatsoever: grilled, seasoned cod, pickled onions, slaw, and the addition of avocado (recommended by our server) made for a wonderful, filling lunch, that lasted me for the rest of the day! Good thing these weren't "market price" as well! As for the cocktails, my wife's Mint Tulip was tart, crisp and floral, while my Rosemary Old Fashioned nailed all the basics, with some herbal accentuation thrown in, which gave it a nice, earthy aroma and aftertaste, in keeping with the season.
Overall, La Conner Seafood and Prime Rib House did everything right, from service to seating, ambiance, location, quality of food, barring our own mistake of not checking the prices of things ahead of time. The bill was a bit of a shock, and the onus is partially on us, although I'm sure they could be a bit more forthcoming with costs that are variable. Beyond that, I would absolutely dine here again on our next visit...
Read moreService was good. However, you don't get even close to what you pay for. Starting off, I called a day in advance to try and make a reservation, but I couldn't get through. Can't mature a reservation via voice mail, so I didn't even bothet leaving one. No biggie. I get there today, and i wanted to order the 4 course meal (someone posted that as a part of the menu 4 months ago as of today) but i was advised this is no longer available. Bummer, but I had a backup plan in case this happened. I opted for the prime rib (this is a prime rib house after all per the name, right?) Only to be let down again as it isn't available until after 4 PM (which isn't mentioned anywhere in the menu). In the end, I had to settle for cod and fries (seafood also mentioned in the name, so i thought it would be a safe bet). The cod had no flavor other than burnt. Almost like the fish its self wasnt seasoned, then it got tossed into flour and panko, then into the fryer at full blast. I also got an old fashioned that tasted like... anise? Which isn't an ingredient that belongs in an old fashioned. My wife got a burger that was good, but the patty tasted like the frozen ones you get from a grocery store. Atmosphere wise, it felt like walking into a Kitchen Nightmares episode. The prices seem to have gone up from what I see in the menus from a couple of months ago. Overall, I was very disappointed. The place seems to have hiked up the prices and any semblance of good deals on order to get as much money as possible from the customers in order to stay afloat. Due to all the above mentioned I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant, nor will I be...
