Realistically, zero stars. Went in to check out the place and I regret ever stepping inside. This is not a “race card” I’m pulling because its my experience as a person of color. And so I know that how they treated us was due to that very fact. We walked in to no greeting but when a caucasian person walked in a couple minutes after us, I heard a warm greeting, letting them know of a sale. I shook it off but not even 5 mins inside, as we were looking around, I notice this man(possibly the husband?) come stand behind my sister and I staring us down with his arms folded. I tried to shake it off again, giving him the benefit of doubt but when my sister attempted to go behind him, he wouldn’t budge until she got too close then he took half a step forward. He had this mean mugging face on the whole time, as if trying to intimidate me. I followed her and when I turned to confirm my suspicions, he was also turned facing us. It finally hit me, “He thinks we’re going to steal!” Mind you, this is with 4-5 other caucasian customers inside. My sister and I are not obnoxious, we are both very quiet and we don’t touch everything we see. We were actually cautious because we didn’t want our bags hitting anything because this shop is TINY. But after a few minutes of him following us, I told my sister that unfortunately, in La Mesa, which was my home for 3 years, there are still racist people that exist. She felt uncomfortable staying so we left and we went to the antique mall down the street and had an amazing time there. We didn’t even get to make our way to the front of shop because he was basically keeping us towards the door. To the owners of this thrift store, I hope youguys do better with your judgement. A gem cannot be a gem if racism still runs deep in your blood. I am so disappointed with how we were treated because I was expecting better from the local people of La Mesa....

(reviewer) Bree IS CORRECT about "the one behind the counter"* who got against (Bree). I experienced (as a customer only entering of store) the same person, way longer ago -- in time. *The Owner is exactly like this, if that was not of the owner against Bree. The owner is one who judged me by Body Profile, as my physical body profile not satisfy her. ?Want to know the Thrift Shop of high popuinlarity? That be the (La Mesa Dowtown located)...
Read moreHave change with you! Parking around the building is all metered. I went inside to get some quarters and was told no. The reasoning: lots of people ask and I end up not having enough change for the day. The sign on the door says cash only. They may want to invest in a change machine if it’s a regular thing for people to ask or grab more rolls of quarters from the bank. I only came to this area to visit this thrift store and ended up not browsing as I was...
