The actual beach area was closed 8-21-22, not sure why or if it's opened back up now. It could have been due to impending storms, but if so, someone just go out and put up caution tape every stormy day, which is impressive. You could still park, use picnic areas, walk on the pier, bathrooms were open, etc. Beach looks pretty nice though. It's a smallish sand area, and if your vision of a beach is based on the Pacific coast... This is a little different than that. It's not miles of sand, and from just down the street you almost wouldn't know you were near the ocean. Green grassy land basically runs right into the water. It's also not uber commercialized in the immediate area which is nice (but don't expect beach side restaurants with table cloths or a gelato stand, and bring your own drinks and snacks.) Of course the beach area wasn't open the day I was there so maybe it's not always like this, but despite quite a few people being out there fishing or picnicking it still felt chill and uncrowded. Facilities were generally nice and well maintained in the way that parks are in smaller towns that put in pride and effort (ie not everything is new, but someone has cleaned it recently.) One thing that was really striking and surprising to me- standing out next to the water there was no cooling sea breeze effect. Not much wind at all, and it felt just as hot as it had in Houston, maybe hotter. Maybe this is just how air currents are because the bay is so protected or maybe this was an odd weather pattern because there were storms in the area that...

Read moreHowdy, y'all! I recently had the pleasure of visitin' a beach park, and let me tell you, it was one of the most delightful experiences I've had in quite some time.
The first thing that struck me was the beauty of the place. With that wide expanse of golden sand stretchin' out as far as the eye could see and the waves rollin' in with a soothing rhythm, it was like Mother Nature herself had painted a picture for us all to enjoy.
The park was well-kept and clean, which is somethin' that I always appreciate. There were plenty of trash bins around, so folks could easily dispose of their litter, keepin' the place lookin' as good as a Texas sunset.
Now, when it comes to activities, this beach park had it all. From buildin' sandcastles with the young'uns to takin' a refreshing dip in the ocean, there was somethin' for everyone. I reckon there were even some volleyball courts and picnic areas for folks to have a good ol' time together.
And don't get me started on the sunset view. It was somethin' straight out of a Western movie, with hues of orange, pink, and purple lightin' up the sky. I could've watched it for hours.
I gotta give a tip of my hat to the folks who maintain the park and keep it in such fine condition. They do a right good job, and it shows.
All in all, this beach park is a true gem. If you're lookin' for a place to relax, enjoy nature's beauty, and have some fun with your kinfolk, this here beach park is the place to be. So grab your hat and your sunscreen, and mosey on down for a great time. You won't be...
